Ok thanks, I'll add it to my supplement regime and see if it helps.

DishRag, Do you still Run?
One of the symptoms I noticed before my diagnosis is that one day I felt like I had no control over my legs and I could not run. I can still cycle and walk OK. I am going to try running on the treadmill and see if I can find a pace that is comfortable.
I feel like my balance is off but I don't know if that is the PN or the meds.

Dishrag, there are some genetic mutations that can affect your bodies ability to absorb folate and B12 (the typical forms used in most vitamins needs to be metabolized (methylated) before it can be used by the body. If you do some searching here on "B12" you can find a lot of info on this.

I can still run, but after 3 knee surgeries(1 acl and 2 meniscus) I'm pretty much bone on bone. My options are total knee replacements or the non traditional stem cell injections which re-grow cartilage. I have not made a decision yet on which way to go and my knees are not toast...yet. I have a buddy that just completed the stem injections in his knees and neck....and is doing very well, so it looks promising.

As far as balance, I find myself occasionally crashing into things or tripping for no apparent reason, almost like I am drunk(not drinking at the time). I have to wonder if it is age, or PN...I dunno?

Rag, I have been reading a ton on B12 and so far it is helping me stabilize. I kinda lean towards a B12 deficiency which might have contributed to my PN. I say this because B12 over everything else I tried actually makes a difference in my symptoms.

As MrsD would always remind me, if you're going to have your B12 tested make sure you don't take it for a few days before so you'll get a true reading.

Were the crabs spicy as well as salty? Spicy food is a trigger for many of the people in this group. That, caffeine and alcohol.

The only other thing I can add is imo age is a factor. Looking at the list of hobbies you could have something going on in your spine. Or not. My SFN came out of nowhere and I haven't been able to get a dx. I have to think it's been there waiting in the wings. As I aged it just became harder for my body to hide it.

My Neuro said it is not injury related, but knowing what I know now I have to question most of what he concluded.

I have a compression injury in the lower back from a fall off a 8' roof. Straight down, landed on my feet, then fell backwards. It did give me sciatic issues for about 6 months, then went mostly away. I can displace the disc by using it too much or in the wrong way, but a trip to the Chiro straightens it out until I over do it on another day. I'll see if I can find a pic of the xray....certainly worth a second opinion.

sounds like you need an mri for that. Did they do an emg/ncs on that area of your back?
