Wondering if anyone has experience of taking Lyrica without significant side effects. Weight gain specifically. I have out on some weight since I started to experience small fibre neuropathy. Iva reduced activity levels as a result and may be eating more too. I’ve just started lyrics after being on 2700mg of gabapentin fot 5months. I’m hoping my weight gain will be brought under control through intake management. I’ve read a lot of negative experiences regarding this. I’m wondering how representative they are?

I’m on lyrica...150mg a day I don’t seem to have any side effects to t if anything I think they are just sugar pills somtimes...are you diagnosed with SFN what’s your symptoms?

Hi there! I just ceased taking Lyrica in the past two weeks and i thank god i'm still going strong! Lyrica is a terrible drug, there have been so many awful cases, mine as well, and weight gain? omg, i still can't lose the weight i gained, which was over 30 pounds in less than 6 months and that was 2 years ago. Then again, i just stopped taking it, so it's a wait and see game for now. For some, it seems to work just fine, but unfotunately, for too many it has wreaked havoc in their lives. Just monitor your health, weight, etc. and if you noticed the scale going up, talk to your doctor about another alternative, because withdrawing from Lyrica is a nightmare to say the least. No doctor will tell you what it does when you get off of it, mine never did, she just upped that dosage more and more and finally, i started googling and researching and i was in shock that everything i was experiencing as far as side effects was due to Lyrica. I'm pain free as well, so that was another indicator for me to stop as well. I hope it does work for you and bring you relief, in any case, we're all here to help so ask away! Hi Esme, I’m sorry to hear about the problems you have had. On top of neuropathy as well. Terrible. I’ll watch out for all those things, there really isn’t much help around is there? I’m struggling psychologically because I think it’s been quite a fast progression. Last August I did the Camino de Santiago in Spain with my son. 500 miles of walking over 5 weeks. Now I think twice about walking to the bathroom! I hope some combination of pills gives me back my walking life. I’m pleased you’re pain free and enjoying life. Keith

Thanks for your reply. i haven’t been officially diagnosed m. My neurologist has said peripheral neuropathy. It’s sloely getting worse. My feet are sensitive underneath especially the pads and great toes. Socks feel like sandpaper. Walking is uncomfortable. The are starting to feel hot which I’m terrified of. This all on 300mg lyrica now. I’ll take it in the hope it helps it seems there are very different experiences with it. No diagnosis because no reason for it. I am going to request skin biopsy and qsart tests.

I was on 3600 of gabapentin and my doctor recommend I try lyrica. I also started having weight gain--and for me, lyrica did a worse job at helping with pain. So I switched back to gabapentin. I'm now taking a time-release version, called gralise. (There's another time-release version as well, but I don't recall the name.) It's expensive enough that I've wondered if I should even have the insurance company paying for it, but I was feeling the ups and downs of gabapentin three times a day and time-release removes that issue. (And I'm taking 1800mg of the drug so that may help, too.) Lyrica would have to be fantastic for me to go back to it, and it isn't (for me).
