Default Nortripyline vs Gabapentin

I've been taking Nortriptyline for nearly one year to help manage my IPN symptoms--mainly paresthesia.

I have constant fasciculations in my calves (ie twitching), and this has recently seemed to spread to other areas.

I read online that Nortripyline is actually sometimes contra-indicated for twitching since it can provoke it.

Has anyone any experience with Gabapentin? I'm wondering if I might try it instead.

How does it compare with Nortriptyline in terms of positive effect and side-effects?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

I have had full body SFN for about 3 years. I take 3600 mg's of Gabapentin per day, yet I still experience fasciculations, mostly after I have been active. Sorry, I can't really compare it to Nortriptyline because I never got to a level of efficacy with that drug because it made me too tired to function.

I wish you the best,

Cliff

Thanks Cliff. That's encouraging.

How does Gabapentin help with your neuropathic symptoms?
Does it have any side-effects (worth worrying about)?

Cheers
Paul
