Hi all-
I have recently been diagnosed with SFN about 3-4 weeks back. I am a diabetic ( diagnosed for last 1 year) with good A1c levels ( 5.8 , 5.7 for the last 10 months ) . I used to drink lot of alcohol and my B6 level is 3 times 76mg above normal ( have been taking vitamin tablets for 5 years now). I have completely stopped taking alcohol since then, but actually the symptoms are increasing and not decreasing. I am on lyrica ( 75 mg once a day ) and I don't have any burning pains and it is working well for me. My increasing symptoms include, small patch of insensitivity which I observed 3 days back in my right foot, sweating in my feet etc. not pain ( pain is controlled by lyirca ). I am about to re-visit neurologist soon My question and guidance I request is, does skin biopsy tell if the neuropathy is die to B6 toxicity or alcohol ? while I did stop taking both, I am very curious what may have caused it and why the symptoms are increasing even 4 weeks after I stopped alcohol and Vitamin supplements |
