Default Is it PN or????

Hello to all,

I have had neuropathic pain in both feet for the past 14 years. I do not have diabetes. It first began in 2005 very rapidly with disabling pain. The EMG was negative for large fiber and I was not offered additional testing by Neurologist at the time. The pain waxed and waned over the years. I was able to manage the pain very well the last few years and was able to walk 2 to 4 miles at times. I have never had any numbness at all...just pain, such as burning, shooting, and cramping.

The past three months have been extremely difficult as the pain just started increasing to the point where I am again disabled from it. Still, no numbness. I have been able to swim at the gym in their warm pool which helps somewhat but walking, especially standing is unbearable for any length of time.

I also have chronic tinnitus which feels louder, but it could be from the stress I suppose. I take 50 mg.of amitriptyline, 500 mg.of gabapentin and 2 mgs of Valium all at night which helps me sleep. Most of the time my feet don’t wake me up at night. It’s difficult to take meds during the day due to side affects, but I’m sure I could use them.

I am being referred back to Neurologist and am wondering which tests to order and if anyone can relate to my story. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
