Default Help for a recently diagnossed member

Hi guys,

One month ago I was diagnosed with chronical and idiopathic peripheral axonal neuropathy. First electromyogram two months ago suggested demielinizing PN. But after multiple tests it seems it's the axonal form. And my neurologist says there is no effective treatment.

My first sympthom started 4 months ago with a soft numbness in my right foot thumb. But PN is spreading, both feet, a bit in hands and maybe in mouth (dysegusia). Now I have, burning and tingling in feet, tingling in hands and dry mouth with metallic taste. It's clear that my sympthoms progress, and that frights me.

I'd like to know what are the best options or treatments.
I've read this thread from mrsD (I miss her too, hoping her soon recovery) about supplements but I don't know if it's outdated or there are better choices:

**

Also I wonder if the expensive Rebuilder is a valid option.
Regarding diet, I doubt between orthomolecular diet or low carb.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards.

When your doctor cannot provide help, the best thing you can do is eat a healthy diet, exercise as much as you can tolerate, use the supplements that have been recommended in Mrs. D's thread, and try to reduce stress as much as you can. My small fiber neuropathy symptoms came on suddenly almost 5 years ago. Things got somewhat better after taking these steps, and have stayed fairly stable over several years now. Then again, everyone is different - there are no guarantees with this illness.
