A home meter is not accurate enough to diagnose yourself.
you should not try to diagnose yourself anyway
go to the doctor/hospital and do a glucose tolerance test.
Let the doctor make the diagnosis.

You should consider getting an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test from a doctor.

Home testing isn't going to diagnose you with anything, it's just going to give you an idea how your body responds to different carbs.

Chickpeas are not a good food to test with as they're full of fiber, which also slows down the digestion of the carbs.

Idiopathic, Full Body, Small Fiber Neuropathy since 11/2013. Symptoms include altered sensation in toes; constant tingling/vibrations in feet and lower legs; intermittent tingling in temples, scalp and face; full body "buzzing" in the morning (suspect mild dehydration); referred sensation in feet cause by touch; occasional bouts with severe cramping in my feet and legs; when flaring, full body burning.

Metabolic issues: FBG -88 A1C - 5.1 with glucose spikes near 300, can't metabolize alcohol, and salt consumption makes my neuropathy 100x worse.

Current treatments:
  • Omega 3's - Fish Oil (2400 mg EPA, 1200mg DHA), 200 mg Magnesium Threonate
  • 5 mg Meribin Biotin for low-normal biotinidase levels.
  • Low carb "back to the farm" diet, lots of water
  • Quell TENS unit, 5% lidocaine patches, magnesium cream, CBD oil

Hi Gert, thanks for your interest and help.

I've contated him today by email asking for valid tests as you suggested. Also I've done two personal blood tests (today and yesterday) just before breakfast. Results were 133 and 135.

Btw, I found some days ago a blood analitic from two months ago showing HbA1c at 5,40% (no prediabetes)

I'll update.

Regards.

hba1c 5.4% is not prediabetic its normal
If you get this test the diabetes or prediabedes will either be ruled out or confirmed. If you say nerve damage to any doctor they are trained to think diabetes. Some people just do not fit the mold.

I don't know about carbs, and I haven't noticed quick, serious changes in my symptoms with changes in diet. However, I have noticed that as soon as I back off of my B vitamin supplements regimen, things get worse quickly.

Sorry not to be of more help.

I missed your post, Nervous.
In fact it's been very helpful, thanks. A new analytic discarded diabetes and pre-diabetes. BUT that analytic showed high values of B12 (more than 1500 pg/mL) and folic acid (more than 24 ng/mL). Although I felt quite well I suddenly stopped the intake of both supplements (5000 micrograms/day of methylcobalamine and 5 mg/day of folic acid) a month ago as suggested my doctor.

Since ten days ago I feel my NP symthoms are worsening. And every day is getting worse specially the last 4-5 days.

I'll make a new thread to ask about specific B12 questions.

Regards.
