Default neuropathies stemming from major Trauma

Hi, I recently joined neurotalk. I'm still unsure how to navigate around the site. I posted my story which goes back decades. Now in my 60's I'm dealing with multiple symptoms of small fibre neuropathy. I live in a more remote part of Canada so it is a challenge to access medical care at the best of times. My family doctor has been really good and tried unsuccessfully to get a skin biopsy to confirm the small fibre neuropathy. At present there is no lab in BC that does this test. I have had multiple blood tests and several for diabetes always coming back negative. Long story short it is thought I most likely have idiopathic small fibre Neuropathy. Once I became aware of the symptoms of small fibre Neuropathy a lot of things started to make sense. I believe the car accident that I was in was the start of it all. I had a compound fracture in my left thigh, broken pelvis and shredded right arm. After multiple blood transfusions and traction for my leg I was put in a full body cast for transport from Fairbanks Alaska to a hospital in BC. Both legs were left in the full body cast for more than three months. Being young at the time I recovered well though when I look back I had many symptoms even then but I was able to get married have children and lead a busy life. Now that I am getting older the symptoms have increased and are getting worse and really affecting my day to day life and what I am able to do. I tried Lyrica and did not like the side effects so I am currently managing with a lifestyle approach, trying to get a good amount of exercise and eating well. Just curious to know if others have had neuropathies related to major trauma earlier in life.
