Atticus this is the program that has worked for me for 5-6 years, Inosine is being added to the mix.

Needed for energy, nerve function, nerve healing. A B-50 formulation is about twice as strong as a regular B-complex. Two B-50s or one B-100 is at the upper safety limit. Take with breakfast so it help your body utilize your food all day.

Up to 1200 mcg. 1/day
An important component in nerve function, shown to be deficient in many cases of neuropathy. Helps fight depression and bipolar disorder. Check the folate level in your B-50, and supplement with enough to bring your folate intake to 800 - 1200 mcg/day. Men with neuropathy need more than women. If it doesn’t help within about six weeks, the amount in your B-50 should be sufficient.

Antioxident. 800 mg./day is prescribed in Europe for PN. Help all tissue repair and nerve function. The only antioxidant that gets into neurons because it is both fat and water soluble. Works with the Acetyl-L-Carnatine

Methyl donor. Potent antioxidant. Help vitamins and enzyme systems work. Fights depression, aids sleep, anti-arthritic. Helps liver detoxification. Ask your doctor if you have bipolar disorder because it can increase manic phase symptoms. Expensive, so start with 1200 mg/day, then taper to 400 or 800 mg. after two weeks.

Nerve and muscle function, bone strength. Magnesium helps stop twitches, cramps, and fascilations, reduces pain, lowers blood pressure, and prevents heart disease. Take a formulation of easily absorbed acid salts or chelates. Potassium, calcium, and magnesium are all required for muscle and nerve function. Potassium is in most fruit and vegetables. Too much Ca/Mg can cause kidney stones. The proper ration is two parts of elemental calcium to one of magnesium. A caution: magnesium citrate is a potent laxative. If you start supplementing with magnesium and get the runs, try another formulation or cut down the amount.

This list is from Wings 42 in the sticky section back in 08 . Only one I don't take is SAME because it's expensive. This is in addition to 3600 of Gabapentin.

There is evidence that inosine can help in treatment of spinal cord injury.

Hey Ricky,

This is a great post by Wings 42 and he has 2 other "sister" posts too that are very useful.

Some thoughts...

B- Complex. I didn't know what B-50 and B-100 meant. Not sure we use that in UK. Then I looked at my own B Complex I managed to get pretty cheap through HealthMonthly because it was nearing its use by date. Its Swanson B-125 meaning it has 125mg of everything. (imported from USA) The tablets are huge and they stink. So for example each tablet contains 125mg of Thiamine. That's a whopping 10,417% of our daily needs. B vitamins are water soluble so we pass them out in our urine. We don't store B Vitamins and There's no way our body can absorb that much. Unless you like urine the colour of a Chernobyl puddle, its crazy to take them in one go. It's literally money down the drain. I cut my tablets up and have say a fifth of a tablet with each meal and with a drink before bed. This ensures a steady supply and saves money.

Flax seeds. Flax seeds are loaded with Omega 3. They take some getting used to and its essential to drink more water. In addition, the Omega 3 and other nutrients are far more bio available if the seeds are ground or milled. I Have a nutri bullet and grind my own Flax. It's not quite as good as shop bought, but does the job. Store them in an air tight container. I add mine to porridge oats.
But why stop at Flax seeds? Also add Chia seeds and ground hemp powder and home milled mixed seeds plus cacao powder. Cacao is a superfood and is so rich in magnesium and calcium that it renders a supplement unnecessary.

Probiotics. Its essential to develop a good microbiome,and have friendly gut flora. Its no good taking a probiotic unless you have a diet rich in fibre because the probiotics will die. Fortunately if you eat oats and flax, fruit and vegetables etc this promotes a healthy environment for probiotics.
You need a probiotic that can survive stomach acid, from memory my research led me to Bio Kult. (Amazon) For supermarket probiotics in UK the only one guaranteed to survive stomach acid is Yakult.
Once you have established a good microbiome you don't need probiotics but I take Yakult as insurance.

Wings 42 also had some good things to say in other (consecutive) posts. It might be worth reproducing them too. Great find Ricky.

Things have taken a strange shift. I started taking my blood pressure meds at night and now I only need all the supplements occasionally . 2-3 times a week instead of everyday. No idea why this works,

rickyc4: Whatever is working that is good. I take 2 BP meds , Atenolol in morning and Amolodipine evening and this routine works in my life. And most days 500mg Inosine for thigh burn, but do use Topicals to calm the burn/tingle issues.
