Default Neuropathic itch

I have mentioned here my almost sudden onset full body neuropathy 6 months ago.

In addition to everything else, I have had frequent sun burn sensations on my scalp since summer, but now it's seemed to settle in as a chronic itch.

If I've learned to somewhat ignore sensations in my lower body, I'm finding it impossible to tolerate this scalp itch.

Anyone have any suggestions for neuropathic itch?

Shocked Itch

I get it sometimes. It seems I get it all over my body, even cheeks. I take my brush and scratch so much, but it finally subsides. It is exacerbating. Right now my face cheeks, middle thighs and feet are itching. 😳

I've told my story many times so won't again...neuropathy can do different things and often I itch more than other times. My best supports for neuropathy are: Grape Seed Extract, been taking it 25 yrs, and Inosine for the last few yrs.... I've talked about both these supports.... Tons of good info on this forum.

Hey Jelinx,

I saw your thread a while back but didn't have an answer, however I saw this today and think it could provide relief.

Oat straw extract – which comes from green oats – has been used for centuries as an herbal treatment for improving the health of the mind and overall well-being of individuals. As it relates to neuropathy, it has a lot to offer. For those suffering from irritated skin as a result of nerve damage, oat straw extract can help relieve itchy or irritated skin. For those dealing with inflammation and swelling, it helps reduce inflammatory markers and relieve pain associated with inflammation. Finally, it helps calm the nervous system and ease anxiety.

Benefits:

Relieves itchy or irritated skin
Reduces inflammation
Calms nervous system and reduces anxiety

Hopefully you'll give it a try and report back to us.

Best of luck,

Atty

Can you tell me if Oat Straw Extract is a topical or oral herbal remedy?

Thanks,

I too get Neuropathic itch/pain. I have found ice to be very helpful. Applying a bag of ice especially on my head relieves a lot of the itch. I also use an over the counter lotion called Sarna. Hope this helps
