Default Reducing nortriptyline

Hi I have been on 150mg of nortriptyline daily for about 6 years and I am now trying to reduce it. I've successfully done so by 25 mg however I have noticed lately that my pain seems worse. I'm just wondering if other people have had experience of reducing nortriptyline and how it went for them. I would also be interested in what dosage people are on. From my own Internet searches it seems that a considerably lower dose than 150mg daily is recommended. I only have a primary care doctor now to sort out anything in relation to my illness. I do not have any specialist care and will not in the future unfortunately. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Indigo: You don't mention why you are taking the drug. I believe it was offered to me years ago when I was told "you have Fibro" but I never took it. It's said t hat once a person starts to pain drugs they end up with more pain receptors...amd its harder and harder to get off the drugs.

I could say I deal with chronic pain but it gets worse at times and better at other times, and I use all alternative med for pain issues and 1 ibuprofen every 6 hrs...

I was prescribed this medication because I have peripheral neuropathy sorry I thought that would be self-evident since I'm on the pn. group page. I was given this and an anticonvulsant to help with severe nerve pain.

Why are you wanting to reduce your intake if it is helping relieve your pain.
I am currently taking 200mg per day plus 200mg Gabapentin.
So if that is all you are taking it is not a lot.
There are others on this forum that take way more than I do.

I don't know you history of course.

Indiago: I have a friend who has dealt with neuropathy for over 40 yrs and her primary drug for years was gabapentin and she took lyrica at times too, both leaving her with nasty side effects....

Once she got on Grape Seed Extract, this herbal helped her a lot and she got rid of the drugs, still have nerve issues but it's manageable and no side effects.

I deal with PN and it's from hip replacement damage and nerve damage but I take no drugs and the Grape Seed Ex works on our circulation and cleans the blood.....And no side effects. I have no tingle, burn issues BUT thigh is numb for over 10 yrs from the damage.

Inosine is another supplement I've talked about a lot of the nerve issues.

Caroline2 what do you mean that Grape Seed Extract works on our circulation and cleans the blood?

Is there any clinical evidence for what you say?

Just an FYI Kiwi that members at NT can share what they believe helps them without having to provide clinical or any scientific evidence.

However, the Healthline article does provide some scientific references for Grape Seed Extract's benefits
