Default Nerve pain and tingling in the scrotum, lower legs and feet. Is it all connected?

Without getting too much into my history, I'll briefly say that 8 years ago I had some aches and pains in the pelvis that my doctor assumed was prostatitis (he was wrong). I was prescribed 2 weeks of cipro (that I did not need) and that sent me down a spiral of chronic pain and IBS.

But the neuropathy is hardest to deal with. The tingling rushes throughout my scrotum and also my lower legs and feet. Oddly, my upper legs don't have much neuropathy, 80% of it starts from the knees and down. If I'm laying on my back I'll feel it a lot down my legs. If I cross one leg over the other, even more. If I lay down flat on my stomach there is no nerve pain in the legs (though I get more lower back pain in this position)

I've had an MRI of the pelvis and lumbar spine which both did not turn up anything. My pelvis still aches and it's difficult to sit down.

I'm trying to figure out why the tingling is happening in these spots and if a tight muscle might be responsible. It seems like my adductor muscles (inner thigh area) are sore and tight. If I lay down on my back with my knees bent like this:

As soon as I start opening up my legs they start shaking uncontrollably. This doesn't seem normal and I'm wondering if other users have similar neuropathy symptoms.

Hi volans,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

If I had that happening to me I'd have to wonder about nerve entrapment or compression particularly of both or either the genitofemoral nerve and sciatic nerve.

Have you been to see a good physiotherapist and talked with them about what's been happening?

Also there are some good spine/nerve maps around. Might be worth checking those out to see if you can garner any info from them.

I'm sorry to read about your pain and situation. I hope you find some help soon,
take care.

For quite a few years my chronic pain doctor assumed I had pudendal nerve entrapment, but when the pelvic MRI did not show up anything, and a pudendal nerve block was unsuccessful, they came up empty.

I've seen a pelvic physiotherapist for about 10 sessions but got no improvement from it. I haven't seen a more general physiotherapist that would branch out a little further and target additional muscle groups.

I tried adductor muscle exercises yesterday and afterwards I started getting sharp shocks near my left pubic bone.

One of the side effects of Cipro is Irritated gastrointestinal lining which can cause IBS so Gut Health should be part of your treatment plan.

Have you tried colon cleansing? A buildup of fecal waste in the colon can put pressure on the nerves and cause the neuropathy pain you describe. Smooth Move tea and Magnesium Oxide will help get rid of the waste. (Magnesium draws water into the bowels to soften things up, and the tea will make it come out.)

Cipro toxicity can also cause nerve damage. The body is capable of healing the nerves but it needs optimal conditions and optimal nutrition to do so. See my post on neurogenesis.

I experience this symptom and over time, I’ve been diagnosed with IPN and a couple years later, Fibromyalgia.

I tried to edit my reply, but it looks like that’s not possible.

I was diagnosed with IPN and a couple years later, Fibromyalgia and autoimmune issues.
