Cool Smirk Kudos to Ms D and Rose....

....my pcp wants to try a new "med" thats not really a med. It's called Mentanx it's relatively new and consists of ,Methyl b12, B6 and Folate. Looks good on paper. Science catches up to our Neurotalk experts.

Wahoo! And if I remember correctly, it even has the good B6.

Whoopee!! Way more expensive than it should be, but at least it's very good stuff.

Reminds me of a story. Recently, a real healer I know mentioned that Dr. ____ was becoming holistic, that he had been going on about fish oil. I hated to burst her bubble, but I told her that there is a pharmaceutical now --fish oil, DHA and EPA. She said, "&#*@."

Here's hoping things will change fundamentally.

Default All I can say is...

that I'm jealous? That your doc has decided that it mite help is a far site better and more 'progressive' than many/most docs I know.
Consider yourself a 'lucky one'...but only if it works...there may be se's...

Here is the link to the full prescribing info:

http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/label/2001/20524s5lbl.pdf

I hope this helps... Never hurts to read the fine print...one can never tell if another med they take doesn't always work 'well' with this...Better safe than sorry.

I just hope it works!!! - j

Is it not true that the ingredients of Metanx can be bought separately at a much lower price? Just a thought.

Default Dan I could be wrong...but was...

a BIT more careful in my 'reading' and conveying this time.

From what I'm seeing it's like Gatorade and electrolytes.. it's just processed [similar to digested] a step further to be more readily asorbed. Some folks lack the ability to convert the stuff thru that one step. But because it's a 'biological' med [I think] it costs bunches more and will for a while.

Tom-wasn't your 'Lyrica' moment, twas my 'Arimidex' moment..that and typing on my part.

Sue? We go again???...Hey I admitted I goofed! I do not pretend to be right all the time! Matter of fact, not being smart enuf to know what was going on with me at onset is what got me here! I have found a sanctuary here. That Tom asked the question, got me to 'refresh' what memory bank I've left to update my brain on this quarter. How long it LASTS is totally up for grabs in a game of 52 pick-up. HA!

Super good thoughts to all and pain free moments -even a couple now and then! - j

Mostly, one can get the same ingredients at a much lower price and excellent quality. However, I made the same mistake (some threads back) and missed the fact that they made the form of folate unavailable without a prescription. %#$@&*% politicians in bed with the *&$% pharmaceutical companies.

Most people probably don't need it. But how disgusting.
