That is a familiar pattern. And many experience fluxuations in symptoms, even temporary worsening of symptoms as the body gets down to real work.

And regarding the buzzing. Some get buzzing as they are worsening, but some of us have had buzzing during both worsening and healing. I had buzzing only during healing.

No guarantees, but it looks good!

I really hope that it is the B12 that is doing some major repair to my nerves Rose, im going to try and get my b12 figure along with the other blood test results, I should have asked the neurologist when I last saw him and he said they were all clear, im not due to see him again now for months but I may pop into the hospital and have a word with the secretary and see if I can get them. Another thing I forgot to add is that the constant tingling in my hands and feet have also diminshed a lot, I just prey that it is the b12 that is doing some healing. One question I do have is will there be any more benefit in taking 5 mg in the morning (as I am now doing) and also another 5 mg in the evening? Or even an extra 1 mg in the evening?...

Hi Mark:

I'm living proof that Methyl B-12 works.
I have no more tingling, no more buzzing, and only (very occasional burning), in my feet.

I started the Methyl B-12 immediately after my first episode of buzzing, pins and needles, etc. Drove me crazy. I remembered Rose's postings, went online to iherb.com and bought the Methyl B-12.

Started at 1000, and in two weeks, went up to 5000 every morning.

Best darn thing I ever did for myself.

buzzing and b12

i also have the buzzing in all of my extremities and my neck and head and have had it for years. it is almost always there and it is painful and noisy. my tinnitus gets worse when the buzzing gets louder. sometimes it changes and makes me feel like i am being electocuted.
i would like to know what if yu have been buzzing forever and now decide to take the b12, would it still work? is it too late?
would shots be better than oral and how do yu get your doc to do that without a copay each time?
and where was the onlline place to buy?
thanks
steff

Mark,

I hope so too. It can't hurt to take the larger amounts: some people benefit from the very large doses (apparently some different need), but most people who have been deficient the important thing is to get the stores full to overflowing with B12 and keep them that way for a good long while, then making sure never to become complacent and become deficient again.

Steff,

Most people (even those who have severe malabsorption of B12) do as well or even better on the regular daily oral dose of at least 1000 mcg.

A lot of people have ordered from iherb.com. Just get a reputable brand, and don't fall for hype. Look for methylcobalamin.

(Those who are not able to get methylcobalamin, cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin are very good things, just don't have all the possibilities of methylcobalamin.)

There was some research showing that some with tinniits were helped by 15,000 mcg (15 mg) methylcobalamin daily for a while.

You never know.

Hi Melody taking B12 has definatley done something for me as well, like I said in the post above, my symptoms did get better BUT today I am feeling some of the numbness / altered sensations again which is a real letdown :-(

Hi Rose it was all going really well until today, now some of the symptoms have returned :-( although the tingling in the hands and feet are still greatly reduced which is good I guess...

Mark:

This is what I think. It takes some time for nerves to repair, regenerate, whatever they have to do to get better. We didn't get neuropathy overnight and nerves aren't going to repair over night.

I get "episodes" also, very occasionally, I feel like ants or bugs are crawling over me. I couldn't care less if some of me is numb. I don't notice that. But because my tingling, my buzzing, and that awful pins and needles stuff is gone, who am I to complain, if I get occasional OTHER stuff.

In my mind, my body is repairing itself. It never did that before I took the Methyl B-12.

Also, my eyes show no sign of diabetes, and my vision corrected itself (after 40 years of wearing glasses for near sightedness). You should have seen my eye doctor the other day saying "I don't believe this, whatever it is that you are doing, well it's working".

The only thing I'm doing (in addition to healthy eating, lifestyle changes, and not sweating stuff I can't change), well, it's the Methyl B-12.

And the energy is amazing. To me, it's kind of like an anti-depressant. (without taking an anti-depressant).

I mean, I like to get up and get dressed and go out and see people, and dress nicely. And yeah, if the weather is not cooperating my feet do burn slightly, but given what I was going through 3 months ago, this is much much better. I'll take this any time.

I'm no spring chicken, and for me to want to get up, put on makeup and jewelry and nice clothes, and go out to breakfast with my husband, well, I do that, instead of getting up, and doing nothing.

I think that if we try and have a good outlook (even if we are going through bleak times), well the nerves can do their thing.

And sometimes, I even take 10,000 of the methyl in one day. I haven't had one bad thing happen to me.

Oh, yeah, I have to correct that. Exactly three times, since I've been on the Methyl B-12, if I got up to fast, I got a little dizzy (I have no idea if my sugar was low, or if it's related to the Methyl B-12). But I just stood still, held on to the wall, and in 2 seconds I was fine. This happens if I blow my nose hard also. I really don't think it has anything to do with the methyl b-12 but who knows.

It's nothing really, and 99% of the time, I feel just fine.

Now if I didn't have scoliosis, and degenerative joint disease and sciatica, well, I'd be the bionic woman but hey, I'm 60 this year, and I'm happy just to get up in the morning. Everything else is a bonus.

Mark,

Picture someone investigating and repairing electrical problems in an appliance. Your "electrical system" is much more complicated.

That is often the way it goes. You need to look at it over several months (often ups and downs with a pattern of improvement overall).
