Jarrett - sorry It's my fault I got this off the B-12 track...Beat me with a wet noodle or something?
I'll do no such thing! There's always value in every post IMHO. I've never seen a thread led so far astray that there wasn't still something good in it. Besides, all your posts I've seen have always contained pearls and gems of wisdom! So lead away!

we use the same type of scales that dr's do. if they actually get a reputable company to calibrate them, they will be tagged. the office staff needs to be trained on how to use them and set all the weights back to zero after each weigh in.

you should also ask when the scale was calibrated and how much the scale is known to be off each year.

ours are used way more than a dr's office scale. average has only been 3-5 off. many times they have weighed under.

when the company that does the calibrating comes out, they check usually replace all springs.

it might seem like a real pain, but we have had members who have brought their home bathroom scales into the club..and calibrated it to match ours.

i know weighing can be very frustrating. there are so many factors. yes, time of day, time of the month for women, constipation....

on the b 12 issue...
the methyl i can take.i am taking 1000 mg daily. i get extremly nauseated with any b-complex.

No wet noodle here.

But this is from my B12 website. Many of us have independently described the repair process as "weird" with good reason:

Quote:
When deficiency is treated early enough, damage may be repaired quickly and completely. The longer treatment is delayed, the more likely repairs will take many months to years and be incomlete.

Do not despair if a symptom becomes worse at some point after treatment begins. This sometimes happens when the body is addressing that particular problem, and often the symptom becomes dramatically worse. Symptoms can even multiply previous to great improvement. No guarantees, but this often happens when damage has been serious.

Many people who have serious damage experience what I call a honeymoon period within days or weeks of starting treatment. At that point it may seem that improvement is so rapid they begin planning to dance on tables within a few months. Then, in those who experience great fatigue and increased symptoms as their bodies begin very hard work on serious repairs, fear is common and reasonable.

Recovering from damage is often not linear. It isn't like getting over the flu or a cold, or healing from a wound. Nerve repair is slow and can be very weird. Many of us have settled on "weird" as the best way to describe it.

And very few medical people have the slightest understanding of that process. Many in fact assume, irrationally, that as soon as the B12 deficiency is corrected, the body will miraculously be back as good as new. As if even a simple knife wound would be healed as soon as the knife is removed. Ridiculous.
A couple of pertinent examples: 1) I developed vertigo late in my deterioration, and it wasn't until just before the last bit of vertigo went away (as a result of treatment) that I experienced spontaneous dizzy spells. 2) when nerves repair, the signals change, and until the central nervous system figures out how to interpret those new signals, pain can increase, or any number of abnormal sensations can be present.

Regarding being unable to use the cyanocobalamin. If you can't convert it, for storage and use, it goes out with the urine.

I found lots of times that my symptoms increased for some periods, no set pattern but flaring was very common, followed by a little less severity of symptoms.
