On Saturday, I took myself to a movie at the cheap theatre as my husband was out of town. I saw "1408" which I really enjoyed. It was the first time I had driven at night since November I think.

Yesterday, I took myself to lunch. Went to the Outback and discovered that their barbecue sauce is now gluten free. It was the first time I'd had barbecue in a restaurant in five years.

Today, my husband was back in town and took me to a department store to buy pajama shorts as the only pair I have is almost 10 years old and has holes in it. Just looking was so exhausting that I had to rest in the dressing room for a bit. I bought three pair of shorts so I won't have to buy anymore for at least a decade, I hope.

This was a very busy weekend for me. I seldom leave the house on weekends.

Hey Sue.....Sounds like you need an Exterminator to get rid of those pesky bugs! I think they are a white/clear color....not very big.....but boy can they eat wood!
I hope you feel better after the antibiotics! Urgent Care can be a blessing!
It's always hard when Mike and I drive up to Nebraska to see my family and then having to leave my son, his wife and their daughter.......I cry half the way home.
Take care Sue!!

HI Fanfaire!
Cheap movies can be a great place to see some good movies! I love action movies and ones that make you smile.
It's good to get out once in a while and see the sites.....as long as there's a place to rest along the way!
I love Outback......my best friend and I go there once in a while to eat. We bought their chocolate dessert (can't think of the name of it) but it was SOOOO good! LOL Probably had 1000's of calories but we didn't think about that then! LOL

Melody, thank you for your supportive words for my son. It helps to know that there are people who appreciate the "boys over there". We had a lot of heartaches with him during his high school and college years, and we are so greatful that he turned around. We all put our hearts into our kids, but sometimes there are things that influence them or happen to them that are out of our control. We can't take all the blame or all the credit. A lot of life is a crap shoot.

Roxie:

The Outback's chocolate dessert is called CHOCOLATE TOWERS.
It's 7 layers of Chocolate Cake.

It would put me under the table.... lol

The Outback does have one dessert that is gluten free. It is called Chocolate Thunder From Down Under! It is a flour-less brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

Since I am diabetic, this is not something I can eat often. But I have my husband's promise that we will go there every Valentine's Day and split that dessert. Only five more months to go!

Most of the movies I see are rented from Netflix. I like being able to stop the movie periodically and get up and stretch, take a potty break, grab something to eat, etc and then pick up where I left off. And of course I get to view it from the most comfortable seat in the house!

But there is something to be said for the experience of seeing certain films on a theatre screen. I go a couple of times a year. It has to be a really good movie for me consent to climbing all those stairs (can't sit in the front or I'll get motion sickness) and then have to sit still for two hours without a break.

Default Haven't been to a movie in so long!!!

Not even because we don't have a car, either. If we want to go somewhere we go with Access-a-ride. We have seen many movies that way.

But recently, (well this happened so much I couldn't take it any more), they jack up the volume in the movie theatre so much I had to wear ear plugs.

Some guy came over to me and said "Oh you have a hearing problem, would you like a voume amplifier??" I wanted to punch him upside his head. I said "are you asking me if I want the sound LOUDER???" and he said "yes, many people do this" I said "well, I'm not one of them, as a matter of fact, it's too loud already".

So I just stopped going. It's like no one wants to sit next to the band at a wedding reception. If that ever happened to me, I'd be on the first ride home.

I do NOT like loud noise of any kind. It's like I have super sensitive hearing. I can hear everything outside. I was never like that as a young woman. I went to discos and danced all night long. The noise never bothered me.

But now as I approach 60, I guess I AM getting Old, aren't I??? lol

I can't imagine sitting in a movie theatre with all the booming sounds, percussions, vibrations, coming from all directions.

Takes me back over 30 years (when noise didn't bother me at all), and I went to see the movie Earthquake with Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner. It was produced in a new format called Surround Sound (anybody ever see this in that format)???

Well, I will never forget sitting in the seat and all of a sudden the whole theatre started to shake with vibrations when the earthquake scene came.

I knew immediately "this was not for me".

I must be very weird to not like loud stuff going on around me.

Maybe it was years of using a Sony Walkman to listen to my Beegees and the Soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever??

Good Morning Fanfaire!
That's the dessert my friend and I split! OMG it was SOOO good!! We really enjoyed eating it and sitting there yakking for a cpl hrs. We always meet at a restaurant to eat and then go shopping at our favorite clothing store.....Fashion Bug...then we go for dessert somewhere so we can sit and yak some more! lol
Mike and I love Netflix! We just joined last month and we've gotten some great movies. Also we've rented the episodes from the tv show "Hero's" that we've missed so we can be ready for the new season in a cpl weeks. We love that show! I'm a Hito fan! Also we can download movies to our computer so we're going to do that with some of the old "Dr. Who" BBC tv shows that I loved dearly! Technology is SUCH a wonderful thing!!
My husband loves 'going' to movies so we do that sometimes too.......tho since my PN has gotten a little worse it's hard for me to sit in a cold theatre. So I wear a warm blouse and take a jacket.....and if I don't need to wear it then I lay it over my lap to keep my legs warm! lol But we have seen some great movies at the theatre this year.
Hope you are having a nice day!
