Default It's been a very long night!

HI All!
I had my Halo procedure yesterday at 11. It took an hr. The anesthesiologist had to use a different type of anesthesia for me since they can't put a breathing tube down your throat with this type of procedure. Soooo I woke up from it with one doosy of a headache!...which I still have! The dr. told me to take Tylenol for it....well let me tell you.....Tylenol hasn't touched it! He said that 25% of the people who get this type of anesthesia get the headache....and of course I had to be one of the 25%! So I had to stay at the hospital till 4pm because the headache was so bad. (I know hospitals are loud....but man when your head is spinning you notice every beep and noise!)
I feel like I'm swallowing over a huge, raw lump every time I swallow. The dr. said my Barrett's cells are in the lower third of my esophagus so that's where they primarily used the rotating 360 degree laser.
Since this is the first week of using all the new fandangled Halo equipment at Methodist Hospital there was quite the ta-doo about it. Even a representative of the Halo system observed my procedure! Gosh I felt SO special! LOL
Anyway......I've been up and down all night tonight with this pain and headache. I hope it feels better soon. I also have that buzzing feeling in my arms and legs....my friend PN!
Take care all.......I hope you had a good Monday......

I'm so sorry for all your going through still. Can you call the doc and tell him the tylenol does nothing? I would of thought they would of given you something more after. I hope today gets better.

So glad that everything went ok during the procedure and you are in the process of recovering, even if painfully so. Hope the headache is gone by the time you read this and your throat feels better soon, not to mention the PN. Best wishes for a better day as it goes on!

Frown Have you tried...

... an ice pack on the back of your neck? When I used to get a horrible headache, I put an ice pack wrapped in a towel at the back of my neck and it sure did help. It seemed to shrink the blood vessles (or whatever). I sure hope it goes away soon.

HI All, It's almost 10am now and I'm feeling a little better. I took a hydrocodone early this morning and that helped with the pain and I was able to sleep a few hrs.
I did use the ice bag trick, and that helped a little. I think I have to get the anesthesia out of my system before I'll really feel better.
My PN is still being a royal pain. I'm still buzzing and achy

Default Hi

Roxie, good to hear pain killers are working - that anesthesia does take a while to dissapate...

Hope this procedure has worked for you! No more worries there!

Feel better soon!

Default Glad to hear

Roxie,
I'm glad to hear that things went relatively well. And also to know that you are recovering from the aftermath. Drink plenty of water if you can. It will help move the anesthesia out of your system and rehydrate your body from all the before surgery lack of fluid.
