My PCP and I were discussing B12. He says if I want to try B12 shots, he will let me. He also says in his opinion additional B12 only gives a person "rich urine". He says he doesn't think it really helps a person, yet he has 50-70 patients coming to the office a week for B12 shots and says to me, "Who am I to tell them it isn't helping them, they say it is, they say they feel better when they have the shots, so, maybe it does help."
So, we decided that I would stop my 2400mcg of B12 a day for one month and have my level tested to see where my level is at. My friend's neuro says that if you live with a true B12 deficiency, then your body will not retain a B12 level. Some doctors feel that once you take high levels of B12, then you will always test high, even if it isn't a true level. I don't know what the real answer is. I had an appt with an ENT last Friday and he did a bloodwork up for auto-immune diseases--I am hoping he did a B12 level too and I can get back to my B12! ![]() I do know--I WANT MY B12 BACK! It has been 2 weeks today since I stopped taking my B12. My joints hurt so bad, my knees are crying, my feet throb, the spot where they used to swell is swelling again, my hips are both so sore it kills me to climb my steps, my hands ache, my elbows even hurt! I can't be sure if this matters or not, but I can't warm up either---if the saying is true--cold hands, warm heart--then I am a real sweetheart!!!!! ![]() ![]() Yes, B12 makes a difference!!!!!

Deb We urge all doctors to take time to listen to your patients.. don't "isolate" symptoms but look at the whole spectrum. If a patient tells you s/he feels as if s/he's falling apart and "nothing seems to be working properly", chances are s/he's right! |

I have such confusion though I know everyone here swears by the B12. I have been told by most of my docs to not take it. I know everyone says here the docs have no clue but I'm trying to follow the regimen they want. For me though my levels are high but who knows. Does a reumotolgist know about this too cause the endo didn't seem to touch the issue?I hope you find what works for you.

Most doctors would never recommend any supplement or vitamins except a multi-vitamin capsule. They get most of their information from pharmaceutical sources.

I notice a real slump in energy when i get a bit slack taking B12 Cynno, even though i still take a multi B & vit C every day.
When i first started to taking b12, i took 2 to 3 mg B12 Cynno every day for 3 months then got a b12 test done and was only 750 approx, Rose said i must have been malasorbing badly to get a reading like that, so i will never stop taking it. I eventually got my Bobo Visa card and ordered b12 Methyl from Iherb today. |
