you can just use your credit card on paypal and they will tell you how it will appear on your credit card bill. Im unverified and i dont have any problems paying through paypal.

in summary dont answer anything in your regular email from either ebay or paypal, go to the site to see if you have a message.

When you win the auction, you will probably get an invoice from the seller. It will prompt you to pay with paypal. When you click on "pay with paypal, it will prompt you to put in your user id and password.

The auction number and item will show up on your screen. It will tell you to continue, informing you that it will take the payment out of your credit card. (This is the default payment method you have chosen, right??). To find out if this is so, just sign into paypal, and look up your payment options. If it says "credit card on file", use as default payment method, don't do a thing, your winning bid will be paid via your credit card.

Sometimes, the first time is tricky. Don't worry, once you win the auction, you will be prompted during each step.

Then once your payment has been accepted, you will get an email telling you "you have paid with Paypal". Or something to that effect.

The seller will receive an email saying "Notification of a paypal payment".

That's how everything is done. All with emails. It's amazing.

Most people use paypal to pay for stuff on ebay, using their credit card as the default method of payment.

Now, take me for example. I'm a seller on ebay. So when I sell something, and they pay me with their credit card, it goes right into my paypal account. So let's say I have $19.99 in my paypal account.

So now, let's say I want to BUY a cd on Ebay. I put in a bid for $4.98. I win the auction. I get an invoice from the seller. I click on the PAYPAL logo and it will take $4.98 from my paypal account and zooooooom it right into the seller's account. It doesn't need to use my credit card because I have $19.99 in my paypal account. Now if I buy something that is more than the amount in my paypal account, it will automatically take the rest out of the credit card I have on file.

That is how paypal works.

See??? it's really cool!!!

Happy EBAYING!!!

Mel, I have an interesting story for you....

I went to a medical seminar today on aging/memory/ Alzheimer's, and met a doctor there. He was wheeling himself around on a 4 wheel thing called a Wheel about. It was a small thing you kneel on with one leg and just walk/scoot around. His foot was hanging off the back.

So I asked him what it was for.... and he told me:
He has a stubborn ulcer just like Alan's. It is on the ball of the foot, and the story behind it is really interesting.
No diabetes. He had a new shoe that gave him a blister. And because a golf tournament was coming, he injected himself with Marcaine (like lidocaine)...so he could walk the course. So the ulcer went ballistic... got infected, and he had cultures done on it...which ended up with Zyvox... $5000 a month. The organism in his ulcer is a pneumococcus). That sounded weird to me. I wonder if he was lying. (or just stupid again).
His ulcer has gone down from the size of an apricot to a dime, but is still not healing. He is using Regranex also. It has been 7 weeks. Now he says the bone is poking thru the skin. So it appears similar to Alan. At least from what I could determine. (he seemed pretty stupid for a doctor). So he is not to walk on it at all. He did not like the "boot" which sounded similar to Alan's.

What it appears is that when the cushioning fat pads in the foot deteriorate, then the bone comes out. He said there is no help for this. No collagen transplant etc to restore it, because of the weight bearing. So keep this in mind when your new referral explains stuff to you and Alan. It seems pretty complex to me. And to think a doctor brought this upon himself? Strange.

In regards to the Ebay...someone outbid me by 100% to steal my thunder. I noticed that it is a dealer...who probably expects to resell the set separately to make more $$. YOu know I can't compete with this mentality!
So I found another dutch oven, and am watching it instead.
Thanks for the PM on PayPal.... but it looks like I will be out bid every time if these are dealers playing one up on each other. I am just a puny regular person. I guess I don't have much chance there in that capacity.

Melody?

Hi - I have used paypal/ebay for long time too - you do have to be very careful never to click on a link from anyone to get to paypal to pay - just like you go to ebay to buy - go to ebay (type in the url) and then go from there on payment to paypal - the spoof e's from a seller may look real and not be, and the link will give a thief access to your paypal account (same with second chance offers).....

in fact, never even save ebay or paypal in your "favorites" on your puter - its better to type in the url each time - just in case someone gets remote access to your puter.... I've never had a problem with anything getting stolen - but have gotten spoofs and reported them right away to ebay - who follows up on them asap!

Hi Kmeb:
Hope your feeling up to speed!!!!

Mrs. D.

I just dressed Alan's foot this morning. Nice and pink and looks perfectly fine. He has, in fact, never had any bone poking through a hole or anything like that. It has always been surface ulcers. Even the two times it has been infected, they were surface infections (whatever that means). I remember the podiatrist said at the time "it didn't spread to under the layers".

The podiatrists once said: "Oh, you can feel the bony thing here". I have no idea what they are talking about so hopefully, if this new ortho guy ever gets back to me, maybe he can do something.

I do know that I have heard that many doctors "shave down the bone" when an ulcer does not heal. Why they can't do this for Alan, is beyond my comprehension.

So when and if we get an appointment, I will listen very carefully to what this guy says.

Oh, about Ebay. You do know that you can do the maximum bet thing, don't you??? or perhaps you don't know what maximum betting is all about????

mrsD 10-05-2007 05:49 PM

yes,,,

I did a maximum bet $10.00 over. It lasted until I got home today.
This dealer (I looked him up) went from my bid of 20.... to $40!

So I am screwed on that 4 piece set of glass cookware.
I am bidding on 2 separate dutch ovens alone and so far so good.
But I looked up the person bidding against me and they are a dealer who
sells the same items on other entries. So it looks like this dealer will turn around and sell each one separately...and make more $$ doing so.

I just want the dutch oven... for my summer home to save on propane gas costs. It makes me mad, that as a separate person I have to compete against this type of thing!

I really don't like PayPal... the second one I am bidding on lives near me and I can go to her home and pay cash. So far I am not enjoying this at all. There is no savings for me and it appears people are inflating the prices alot.
Jumping so high in 1 day, just blows me away.

mrsD 10-05-2007 06:55 PM

Well. I won a bid!

How about that!

I got the dutch oven over that dealer who outbid me on the other site-he was bidding against me on this one too! :yikes:
And I even went thru the paypal thing okay. It works as unverified.
I guess verifying is for large $$ purchases?

I see the picture went away off my screen on my log. Will the other two red losers go away after their time expires? or do I have to delete them somehow?
I don't see a delete command.

I am pleased...now I have one more, and then I am done for a while.
I have had enough for now! :p

MelodyL 10-05-2007 07:26 PM

Hi Mrs. D.
Congratulations on your winning bid.
And verification has nothing to do with high dollar amounts or anything like that.

It has to do with exactly what the instructions said. You either have to put in your bank account or sign up for a paypal credit card. If you do neither, you will not be verified. But in your case, that means nothing. So don't even worry about it.

Verification is more important if you are a big time bidder and you might happen upon an auction where the person will not accept a bid from you unless your are a verified paypal user.

I don't see that happening with the stuff you are bidding on. Now if a guy was selling his car on ebay, he would only accept bids from verified paypal sellers. See what I mean???

Now you said this: "I see the picture went away off my screen on my log. Will the other two red losers go away after their time expires? or do I have to delete them somehow?
I don't see a delete command"

Exactly what do you mean by this?? screen on your log???

Thanks, Melody

mrsD 10-05-2007 08:06 PM

the tracking screen...

You know that tracking screen showing what you bid on and your standing
before the end?

One of the others (the one I lost at 44.00) just went off the screen.

But above that is a "watching" place with no bidding yet, and it had a delete button.

The PayPal thing went thru and said she was paid. So if something is wrong,
I guess she will contact me.
It shows a $ in my log at the bottom of the page, and is waiting for me
to give feedback on the delivery.

I call it a log page...since it shows what you are doing.

I think I am getting the hang. I paid $34.34 which was including shipping etc which was not much of a deal on a product no longer made. But there is a new version on some cook websites and this large cooker is $79.00 new there.
So it was 1/2 of a new one. The old Visions was discontinued because some blew up on the stove. But I've had mine for 20 yrs and it is nice to cook with.
You can see inside, what is happening, and it saves me mega propane because it holds the heat. I boil, turn off heat, put on lid, stand cook for 20 min and boil again. Doing stews and soups this way saves alot of propane.
And you know, I heard that teflon coated cookware is now becoming toxic..and may be all discontinued. So cooking in glass is more healthy. As long as you don't blow up! :yikes:

HeyJoe 10-05-2007 10:26 PM

Ive seen people bid for items and pay much more for a used one than they would if they bought it new from the manufacturer. Some people just get carred away, its kind of like gambling.
