Well, verapamil is a calcium channel antagonist. I use Cardizem, in low dose for my blood pressure, it has similar actions. And I have erratic burning episodes too.
So I searched this subject-- didn't have much luck, but did find the verapamil information, scanty as it is. My issues are worse in summer than cooler months. And only 2 toes turn color, not the whole foot. I bet you were suffering a long time with this! Thank you for posting... it might just be an answer for someone else who visits here!

that's just it... red filled circles...and at times they hurt so so badly... i shoed the foot doc & he said maybe it was from my sneakers... UMMMM NO!!! it is always there... the last maybe year or so... and sometimes it burns... i dunno what it is... they say i have PN and vasculitis ...

Small red dots--petechiae--or even larger blue black ones--pupura--are quite common among those with vascular compromise, generally autoimmune, such as is found in many of the anti-nuclear-antibody diseases. Basically, you're rupturing small blood vessels more often than somebody without compromises fo the blood vessel walls.
