I've come to understand that defects can be at the root of various things.
My question is: if a person is tested and learns that there is a defect, what can that person do to improve health? There is another thread about genetic defects and drugs. But I am asking for those of us who seldom if ever take a pharmaceutical (and for those who do but also want to do what they can to improve health). rpse

Is this in regards to the DNA test I put up for kmeb?
I saw a science show recently which said, based on the human genome , within 10 yrs, doctors can tailor their treatments based on the results of genetic testing. Now, we can prevent horrible side effects from drugs by adjusting dose for those who cannot metabolize certain ones properly. That is if they are tested. A recent example is Crestor. This drug was released into the population with no warnings. Right away within a year there were injuries based on metabolic profile. It carries a warning now for people of Asian decent, and I believe all people should be tested before being given this dangerous statin!

by what I THINK you mean by this, but, maybe? Some examples could be more easily grasped? I realize that you are light years ahead of me here!
By enzymes do you mean stuff on a basic or more detailed metabolic panel? I only ask as I feel too that this should be an area WE all should be more 'informed' about, but I for one [being chemistry impaired/intimidated] wallow in facts and wrestle with them all to make sense. I always seem to approach this aspect with a lot of well, confusion and then..? maybe even more confusion. It's an area that turns ME to total mush...wish it weren't so...SO? Many thanks! - j |
