Default I waxed off my eyelashes accidentally!!!

Oh boy, did I do a big no-no last night.

I was doing my eyebrows (been doing this for over 40 years, and yes, I know how to do this perfectly). Never had a problem.

So I'm using the wax product, I put it on my eyebrows, and evidently, as I was pulling the strip off the right eyebrow, some of it grabbed the middle of the top of my eye and grabbed some eyelashes.

When I ripped off the strip and I looked, I said "what is this little clump of hairs in the middle of this strip?" I looked in the magnifying mirror and saw that some of the eyelashes in the middle of my right eye, well, they are GONE!!!

So I have a right eye with half the lashes on the left side and half the lashes on the right side and NONE in the middle.

Looks ridiculous. I put some of my A & D ointment and the area was fine.

Checked it this morning, and except for the missing eye lashes, there is nothing wrong. Thank god I know how to do makeup.

So here's my question??

Will these eyelashes ever grow back??

I have no idea. This is never happened to me in all my life.

I turn 60 and my hands can't do an eyebrow???

Now how dumb was I??

Melody

P.S. If this has ever happened to anyone, I'd love to hear if your eyelashes ever grew back.

Default Gee Melody?

Since I have never worried about this aspect of life[the plucking that is] , all I can say is you have discovered unique new 'talents'? That aside, ages and ages ago, I burnt my lashes eye and brows totally OFF using a blowtorch -not my fault, the torch was faulty...but then no lashes? They all grew back, no mutant formations. Gotta tell you tho that a particular burnt SMELL hangs around forever!

It does take about a full year for all your 'hairs' to replace themselves tho, so be patient. - j

When my thyroid was really out of whack a few years ago, all of my lower eyelashes FELL OUT! They grew back, but they came in more curved than they were before, so I frequently have one curling upward and poking me in the eye. Also, I somehow ended up with a follicle (I think?) so close to my eyeball that when that eyelash grows in, it scratches my eye if I don't pluck it.

But I gotta ask the dumb question....how did you not notice you'd removed your eyelashes? Didn't it HURT? I have to pluck ingrown eyelashes sometimes, and I find this painful (of course, I have fibromyalgia, so it's probably just me).

I gave up stuff like makeup for the most part when I first got sick (I do make exceptions for special occasions like weddings). It just takes up too much energy that I need to save for things like actually leaving the house. And I wouldn't dare wax my eyebrows with my tremor and unreliable motor skills in my hands.

So I think you are brave.

I didn't notice because when you rip off the strip under the eyebrow, it hurts so bad, you don't notice if the pain is coming from directly underneath or the eye itself. Been doing this since I was in my 20's.

Saves lots of money. I do my arms too.

I first learned about eyebrow waxing when I was 22 and I was going on a trip with my friend. She said 'let's get our legs and eyebrows waxed". I had no idea what she was talking about. She took me to a spa and the lady asked "do you want your underarms waxed too, if you do this, you won't have to shave for a month". I was so excited.

Until she did my underarms. This was as bad as getting a nerve conduction test. And any stray hairs she got, she got WITH A TWEEZER. Try living through that!!!!

Yuck. Never did that again.

So thanks to all of you for letting me know I'm not going to have a bald eye for the rest of my life.

And as for blowtorching and setting on fire with lighters. Oh my God, my eyes got as big as saucers when I read your posts.

I shall endeavor to be more careful the next time. I don't want to take off my nose.

Take care, we are off to Dunkin.

Melody

Oy vey! Yeah they grow back. I think it takes a month or two and unfortunatly it grows quicker in the summer. I'm not a waxer but do pluck my eye brows. That is an option but I would think some people here would be more sensitive. I had mine waxed at the salon though and it does last longer and really gave me a nice shape. I worked at a salon so got a lot of free stuff done. You could get a pair of fake ones till they grow back. I'm not sure though if they look weird. I'm glad it was just your lashes though and didn't get in your eye.Take care.

Want to hear something interesting. Years ago, I decided to do my eyebrows using a depilatory. We have stuff called NAIR in the USA. Now they make NAIR for the face,

So one day I decided to create a whole new eyebrow look. I took a Q tip, and I put some nair (facial NAIR), on the tip and I very carefully put the NAIR where I wanted the hair to come off. Between the eyes, also. Did a great job. You should have seen how great they looked when I took a warm washcloth and wiped all of it off. I had the most perfect eyebrows you ever saw. I was very pleased with myself.

So I did this on and off (in between waxing) for years.

Then one day I found some Regular Nair, (the one for the legs), in my house and I said to myself "Well, NAIR IS NAIR, right??"

And I did the Q Tip thing on my face. 4 minutes.

I had a date that night. OH my God!!! You would never believe what I did to myself. I burned my whole face around my eyes. I had redness, well, I had to get some aloe and cucumber, and whatever people put on burns.

I never, ever did that again. Never. I don't care if it says Facial Nair, ANY kind of NAIR. Never again.

I used NADS, (some kind of wax), (Aussie, you know what this is, right)? That cost $20.00 and it's gentle.

When I ran out of the NADS, I went and bought some Sally Hansen wax, some strips and I've been doing it myself for years.

I will definitely have to be more careful the next time I do my brows.

I mean, why pay $6.00 for the brows when you can buy a wax kid for $8.00 and do your face for practically a whole year. I mean, look at the money you can save!!!
