Wouldn't it be cool to be able to change gender?? Even for a day.

I know what I'd want to look like. Like one of those American Gladiators that I saw on tv last night. I had never seen this show. Alan calls me in the living room and says to me "you like guys arms, right?" and I said 'of course, you know I love guys with big beefy arms".

Well, he shows me the American Gladiators and on the screen are these 6 foot 6 inch 250lb guys with arms out to here. I thought I lost my mind. I said 'I want a piece of that'. Alan laughed his head off.

I said 'what happens when one of the contestants wins the match?" Alan responds all excitedly: "Why, he gets to be a gladiator"!!!!

My response: "Get real, this is not the Roman Colosseum, we don't have Gladiators in America". I never saw him laugh so much.

I watched a whole bunch of grown men running around, banging into each other (and woman gladiators too), knocking each other off of platforms, into this big pool. Then there was this contest where one itsy bitty guy has to run the gauntlet and mow down 4 he-man gladiators. He never made it.

I just looked at Alan and said "too much testosterone for me.

If I could change, actually I wouldn't change genders, I would however change bodies. I'd take Mariah Carey any day of the week.

My daughter does research on a creek I can't mention, but it is near a small city. About a mile down from the water treatment plant they found most of the fish are female....they are mostly hatching females. There are very few males left. There are high levels of estrogen in the water from human urine, and dumped pharmaceuticals. This is frightening stuff...estrogen does not come out of the water in filtration. There is also a study on the Inuit, and that they are giving birth to far more girls than boys...they of course, eat a lot of seafood, and blubber, fat stores estrogen. It is amazing what a footprint we have left on the environment. There is some interest in finding out how much SSRI is present in ground water as well.

I have never heard of such a thing in all my life.

One of my soaps "All My Children" last year, did a story on one of the characters. Her name is Annie on the soap and she's a Chimera. She actually has two sets of DNA in her body!!!

I offhandedly remarked that when they look at me for genetic disease they are likely to find me as my own twin. I am not. I am one of a kind I guess.

Chimeras are at risk for several reasons....mostly legal....paternity and maternity issues, and crime....I am thankful I have only one set of DNA. I have enough problems with one set of DNA.

Chimerism is quite rare, and very interesting. We are learning more and more about life all the time.

National Geographic has a human genome mapping project going on that looks a bit like a fun endeavor. It is anonymous. I guess they have assembled quite a data base....they give you the rough locations of your far ancestors. It is for anthropology study, not medical. They do either mitochrondrial DNA from mom or for men, they do the Y chromosome.

Oh, I watched the Discovery channel last night. They had this special on Brookhaven Center in NYC. It houses 75 morbidly obese people.

I have never in all my life, really understood what these people have to endure. They are hoisted up in cranes to get them out of their houses, and then they are put on a 1200 calorie a day diet at Brookhaven.

Guess what one of the 800 lb men did?? He would order in pizzas. He's been there for 4 years and never left the bed.

Depression really kills people. And to me, all this is a result of severe depression that makes these people cope by over-eating.

They actually got the guy out of the bed (took 13 people and some hoisting device), and got him to the gym where he he was lifting weights.

I hope he makes it.
