Default If it's not one thing it's another.........

Since my Port surgery last Friday my chest has been burning. So I saw my dr. this morning....he says I have inflammed lungs from the anesthesia! He gave me 2 prescriptions for steriod inhalers that I have to use for 2 weeks.
THEN I saw the Endocrinologist.....more bad news there.....He did an ultrasound on my Thyroid and found 4 nodules, those along with other issues, he's wondering if I'm pre diabetic! So he's scheduled me for some nasty tests in 2 weeks.
2008's not looking any better, healthwise, than 2007

Thyroid nodules are quite common, especially as we age up. I have them. They are seldom serious, but good to get checked out. Try not to lose too much sleep over them....are they looking at a needle biopsy?

With your history, and the fact that you have both neuropathy and myopathy, I am not surprised about the anesthesia problems.

Steroids do raise blood sugar, as do some other drugs. I know you are on IVIG, which is a non-factor in blood sugar. I don't know if you are on steroids other than what they just gave you.

I wish they would give you some time to heal from all this before they do any real testing regarding the blood sugar stuff. Seems like some down time to let your body heal is warranted....a couple of weeks to heal, normalize....then get tested....all you need is more meds to cause more problems...that may simply be the residual from other things.

Lord, how much can one person go thru in a short period of time?

I hope you feel better soon.

Default Ouch! and also BOOO!

That said, promise that you will not ever ask what else could happen? Then it could!
Just go, OK Adding one more to the club or something like that...
I myself, would probably take steroids for a short term, but will never, ever take them for the longer term!
Just think of this as a sort of 'hiccup' in the long term treatment of all things soo complicated? and then, deal with it like a or something!
Roxie? Is this one of those 'road bumps' of life I keep hearing about?

Default Yes me too?

Going to get to explore the wonders of liver function...
As Bob B brought up...the wonders of medications...and then the consequences?
Does anyone have a nice warm cave, with running water [not too much mind you?] and no hassles that I can go hide in for about...oh...a few centuries? I have to admit, that kind of thing is looking really good rite now. - j
