Default A little tip for people who have bathroom problems.

I just thought I would pass on something I have learned. I found out the most amazing thing that helps you to go to the bathroom on days, well, on days, when it might be a bit difficult. And we all have these occasional days. Some more than others. And especially those who use opiates and have a little problem going to the bathroom.

I myself, because I eat a high fiber diet, use my Juiceman Jr, to do the fresh juice thing in the a.m., well, even I, have my moments when the gut doesn’t do what the gut should do on a regular basis.

Oh this has absolutely nothing to do with laxatives, stool softeners, food or anything.

Here’s how I discovered what actually works.

A few months ago, I was walking around the corner when I discovered that the store was selling something called a CONSTIPATION CHAIR. No kidding. I just looked at this chair and it looked like a little computer chair but it had some kind of massage mechanism in it.

I was with Alan and I said ‘of all the ridiculous things to sucker the people into buying, they NOW ARE SELLING CONSTIPATION CHAIRS??

Some guy runs out of the store and tells me, Oh yes, this chair relieves constipation, it stimulates bowel movements, and relieves, this, blah blah”. I just laughed my head off and moved on.

Well, about a month ago, I was having some difficulty going to the bathroom after my morning breakfast at Dunkin. Coffee ALWAYS makes me go right after breakfast. But, stress, being what it is, stress affects my bowel habits (so to speak). It is just the way I’m built. I don’t want to do the laxative thing. I’m all about taking as little pills as I need to take. I don’t even use prune juice because I never needed to .

So that day I remembered the Constipation Chair, and I went into the computer room, and Alan has this Homedics Massage Thing on his computer chair. It’s a formidable looking mat that lays on the chair, and when you turn on the power button it gives you the option of having rollers go up or down your spine, and other massage thingees. You can also have the seat do it’s thing.

So I said to myself “what if I turned on the power, selected LOWER BACK, and kept it on LOWER BACK”. With this massage thing, you can keep the massage thingee doing it’s thing in one spot. It has an automatic shut off feature that stops it after 15 minutes.

So last month I went over to the chair, sat down, pressed the power thing, let it hit my lower spine for about 5 minutes. Whatever the constipation chair claims to do, well, doing this lower massage thing, accomplished the same exact thing.

I went to the bathroom. No problem. No straining. No nothing. I can only attribute this fact to the massaging of the lower back with facilitated the elimination process.

The darn thing worked. Now I wanted to post this thread last month but I said to myself. “what if this is a fluke and it only works on this occasion”.????

Well, guess what?? In the last month, I used it 5 times, and in those 5 times, it worked in five to ten minutes. So, not only did I massage my lower back and feel good, I actually stimulated the elimination process. WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!!

So if any of you have such a massage device in your homes, you having nothing to lose (except some toxins) and do what I did (in case you sometimes have bowel problems.).

I never in all my life thought this thing could accomplish what it did. BUT IT DID!!!!

So I thought I would pass it on.

What a neat little helper, this massage mat turned out to be.

Hope this helps someone who might need the help.

Default Prune juice tip

Hi Melody:

When I was in the rehab place after getting my total hip replacement a month ago, an aide working in the dining room gave me this tip (so many of us were suffering from awful you know what) - warm up the prune juice in the microwave. I had never heard of this, but it worked for me! If you try this, just make sure the bathroom isn't too far away.

Hi Shirley:

Well, since Alan and I now do the live juice thing in the morning,, OH, I WONDER, IF I ADDED SOME PRUNES, would that help??

I mean, I don't need anything to help because I go just fine, but what if I added prunes to the apple, carrot, blueberry thing I do every morning.

That would be a very interesting juice cocktail, now wouldn't it???

Thank the lord that this is no major problem for me or for Alan. He eats fruit all night, so he goes every day.

As a diabetic, I'm much more careful about the fruit I put in my body. To me, getting to eat an orange once in a while is a real treat. a

This morning I added some pineapple to Alan's cup of juice and I did the apple pear blueberry, carrot thing for myself.

Really good.

And then we went to Dunkin. Ahhhhh, that cup of Dunkin in the morning does a body good. The aroma alone is enough for me. lol

For me it's a bowl of oatmeal religiously every morning after all the laxatives I tried, who woulda thunk it?

That chair sounds like a sex toy.

Anyway, what really works is to drink to cups of black coffee first thing in the morning.

That chair WAS NOT A SEX TOY!!!! lol

You are funny!!!

This chair had this chart over it and the whole chart explained how the mechanism stimulated the bowels and relieved constipation.

I repeat, you are very funny!!!!!

And I agree with you about the coffee. That's why Alan and I go to Dunkin Donuts every morning. But Alan drinks tea.

Yuck. To me, tea is when you are sick, not when you go to Dunkin Donuts. They have the most marvelous coffee.

Sue, you crack me up, humor in the face of adversity! I want to stay more like you.
Mel-I have one of those chair things, felt so good when the kids gave it to me I used it about an hour, the next morning my Back felt like a train wreck. I haven't used it since, but believe me, since you posted I am going to try it this very morning.
We have blizzard here this morning and hubby just came in to announce mountain lion tracks on our porch and by the garage, all around the front yard, now I know why my deer quit showing up to feed. Believe me if we spot him he's a goner, they love to feed on small pets around here when they are hungry-Whitefish, MT. Even scares me......

HI Janna:

You used it for about an hour (when you never used it before)?? That's like going horseback riding one day (when you have never gone horseback riding before) and the next day you can't walk.

That happened to me when I was 17. I was out on a date with one of my co-workers, his name was Artie. He had said "I'm going horseback riding, want to come". Now me being a city girl who never even saw a horse, I said "fine".

Well, when I had to show up for work the next day, (they all knew that this would happen), I walked bow-legged like (well figure it out).

I couldn't walk. I gingerly walked up to the group of people who were laughing their heads off, and I said "I will never go near a horse again". They explained that this always happens the first time a person goes on a horse. It takes some getting used to. It seems that all the bumping up and down on the saddle (all day long), well it killed the muscles of my inner thighs.

I thought I would die, the pain was awful, but it took some days, but it passed, AND I NEVER WENT ON A HORSE AGAIN.

So give the massage thing 10 minutes the first time. That should be all you need.

Melody

I have the worst constipation always though it has gotten better since I am healthy. In the hospital they gave us tennis balls to roll on our stomach to stimulate. It never worked for me and the yucky enema was needed. For me consistent water, high fiber but not too much fiber, and as much activity my painful body can get. Some people have good luck with fiber one cereal bt if you don't drink enough watch out. On Oprah yesterday dr oz was saying you should take calcium with magnesium to not get blocked. I take both but seperate pills.
