The CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth) Disease sites have now posted neurotoxic drugs. There are a variety of sites, and I didn't post just one, as they differ....some seem quite comprehensive, also some are from Europe or Australia and the drug names are different....
Please be aware that people with CMT, which can also be called Hereditary Neuropathy among other things, often have problems with anesthesia. Anyone interested in CMT info or Hereditary PN info can call me....also please be aware that Hereditary PN or CMT can be adult onset, with NO known family members manifesting the disease. Interestingly the SSRIs are listed, especially zoloft. HMMMM Other drug sites that are not bad to look at are the ones for porhyria (good idea just to see if any of those bother you....it could be a lead as to cause of neuropathy)...and my favorite...the one below http://medicine.iupui.edu/flockhart/ The flockhart site is a general site, but if you see drugs in one enzyme category, that bother you, it is good to mention it to the doc. If you are on a substrate and an inhibitor, you may want to research it. Not to mention if you are on several substrates or inhibitors. It takes a bit of reading to understand it, but it isn't all that complex....don't let it intimidate you. Not a thing goes in my mouth or elsewhere, prior to checking that chart. Again, not all drugs are on that chart as some are renal excretions, or not metabolized by the known enzymes....this chart is updated quite frequently. Any one who belongs to the professional medscape site can use their med interaction checker....it is easy as the entire drug profile is typed in and cross checked....It also brings up some disease contraindications, but likely not all or most of them. Even with this, it is still good to google drugs, as not all info is mentioned on medscape. |
