Default Hello

Hi
This message is just to introduce myself. I have been reading over the messages on this forum with much interest, and even perhaps with some hope! I am un-diagnosed, but I am pretty sure I have had PN for 10 years. It's in both feet, and it makes it hard to wear shoes, because of the burning/tingling ....you know the kind of stuff. I am located in Melbourne, Australia. I can see a number of other Aussie members here. Anyway, I can see I have some reading to do here, before I can contribute in a useful way to this forum.
Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the board! I'm from Melbourne too.

My PN only came on in June last year so I am not an expert and still have no cause diagnosed as yet, for its onset. Have you seen any doctor specifically for your symptoms? Do you have diabetes? Brian, on this board, is from Geelong and has been dealing with PN for awhile.

Anyway welcome and I know people here will help you as much as they can with information as they know your story.

Megan

Hi Megan

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I have seen a neurologist Cabrini. I'd like to try another neuro though. Mine seems too passive. I've always taken the approach that its best to act as soon as possible (but I have to balance this with a tendancy to become obessive about these problems!)

I wonder if I have some sort of pre-diabetes. But no one in the medical profession has suggested this to me. Recently I had a lot of blood tests done. My "fasting P glucose" was 5.4 (acceptable range 3.6 to 6). {notsure about the units used here in Oz - the units on my test sheet seem to be milli-mols/litre. The units could differ in the USA.}

Yes, I have noticed that Brian on this board has made many interesting posts. In time, I'll get to "talk" to him I am sure.

Best wishes
Steve

Hi. Welcome this is a warm and very educated community. I have been dealing with this for 1 year and the help here has been amazing. I have been to many opinions and I have found many of the neuros are as you described. Many suggest going to one who specializes in pn. Well welcome.
