Default Alan is getting custom molded shoes!!!

Just wanted to update on Alan.

We just came back from Beth Israel Hospital. We can't believe it but he was approved by his insurance for custom molded shoes.

I thought they would put his feet in some gel like substance or whatever. Boy was I mistaken.

It's amazing how they cast the feet. When they took the cast off, there were Alan's feet, perfectly preserved, up on the counter. We looked in amazement. The guy said 'now they will do a plaster mold and soon he'll have his new shoes, and they will be made JUST for him. They will allow for the foot ulcer, his tailor bunions, EVERYTHING. He had to remove the cast with a saw. Holy Cow!!

Very interesting day. (and if you want to have a good laugh, go to Social Chat and see what happened to me in NYC when I went shopping for the first time at Wholesale Foods. That was SOME experience.

Here in Brooklyn, we just go to checkouts and pay. Not in that store. What an experience.

I still can't believe that they just wrap your feet, stick a long yellow tube down the front of your feet (about 13 inches long), then they place wet wrappings around the whole foot (after drawing on it ), and in one minute flat, they have to use a saw to cut it open.

What the heck is in these dressings that they dry in one minute.

And when he cracked it open slightly, and slid Alan's foot out from it, he just snapped it back together and placed them on the counter.

To see a complete representation of Alan's bunions, well we laughed so hard.

I mean, IT WAS HIS FEET, right there on the counter. And there I was, going "Alan, he captured your bunions".

I mean, Alan has some tailor bunions going on, (even though he had them operated on 4 or so years ago), they grew back. They don't hurt any more though, thankfully.

I wonder if these shoes will help with the neuropathy between his toes. He has high hopes.

He's been doing these toe stretching exercises too.

AND HE LOVES THE TENS UNIT.

He uses it on his feet and he's asleep in five minutes flat.

Never saw such a thing.

A TENS UNIT ACTUALLY PUTS THIS MAN TO SLEEP.

Hi Melody

I feel like everything is such a project. I was trying to go into social chat to read about Wholesale Foods?? I have no idea how to get in??

I think I understand when people say they just want to jump in front of a bus.
