Although this discovery is in it's infancy, it may give hope for some diabetic's that are battling the size of their waist lines and of course the terrible complications that can come with it.

Brian.
I have been on high blood pressure meds since I was 26 years old. Monopril, enalipril, zestril, zestoretic, ALL THE PRILS!!! I can't remember what I was on way back then. I DO HOWEVER know that I used to weigh 300 lbs, and only when I exercised every day at the gym, and ate correctly, did I lose any weight. Then, at age 40, I became diabetic, and put on oral meds. Didn't lose any weight. Didn't diet either. Took metformin, which is not supposed to make you gain weight. Didn't do a darn thing for me. Three or so years ago, I began the Lantus. I also got it into my head to eat correctly and walk every day. Sometimes, I even do the gym thing, when my arthritis permits. Sometimes it doesn't permit. But if the high blood pressure meds are supposed to effect metabolism, THEN HOW COME IT DIDN'T DO A DARN THING FOR ME?? Maybe I should have been a mouse?????? lol

Mel, as i understand it they said their team were studying " genetically modified mice that lacked angiotensin-converting enzyme ", by accident they found the weight/fat loss in these genetically modified mice, science is another language to me but i am pretty sure they wouldn't be doing clinical human studies now, if there was no merit in their findings nor would they publish their findings in the National Academy of Science.
With the current epidemic of diabetes happening world wide now, the future complications like neuropathy and other associated diseases caused through obesity is scary to say the least, a little help from science may go a long way, i hope so, anyway. Brian ![]() |
