There was an ad in my local newspaper today. It spouts that Neuragen will take away your neuropathic pain, your burning, your stabbing. There was a photo of a person's foot and it looked like needles were stabbing the foot.

So I cut out the ad, and we took a walk to our local druggist. He had never heard of it. Then we took a walk to CVS.

The pharmacist took a look at the ad and said: "oh, yes these are tablets".

Sigh!!!!

I said: "Read the ad, these are NOT tablets". It says to apply topically. She didn't know what it was, never heard of it, and said "But they mention CVS in the ad, so we must have it".

So I said "okay, where is it??" She takes us to the Vitamin department.

I said: "now why on earth would a nerve pain creme be in the vitamin department?" She said "Because that would be where we put it".

IT WASN'T!!

So then I said: "I bet I know where CVS put it". And she said "Really?? where?" and I said "With all the diabetic stuff". And she goes "oh, do you really think so". SIGH!!!

So off we go down the diabetic aisle, with all the meters, lancets, diabetic vitamins, alcohol swabs, etc. and we couldn't find it.

Then she goes "AHA!!! HERE IT IS!!!

And there..down on the bottom of the shelf, were two (2) bottles of this stuff, with a sign that said 'NEW". (IF IT'S SO NEW, WHY IS IT HIDDEN ON THE BOTTOM SHELF, AND THERE ARE ONLY TWO??).

Guess how much a little bottle is??? $29.99. Alan almost fainted.

I mean, if the stuff worked, well I gather it's worth ANYTHING.

Then I saw the word HOMEOPATHIC and I remembered what Mrs. Doubtfire said about Homeopathic stuff, that they dilute it ALOT!!

So we didn't buy it.

Just wanted to know if any of you tried this.

$30. bucks before S&H for a .1something ounce/gram 'bottle'? TEENY! Save your money.. Read the ingredients... Nothing miraculous there either.

I clicked on the link but it doesn't mention using it topically for neuropathic pain.

It just says that they are recruiting for a clinical trial for Parkinson, Restless leg syndrome, and Insomnia.

We're not buying it.

If it were THAT good, it would be on 20/20.

P.S. Are we talking about the same product? On the link you gave it said Neurogen. In the ad I have in front of me it is spelled Neuragen. It gives the link www.neuragen.com

I googled it and the first hit that came up said it had been around since 1996. If this stuff worked it would be advertised in every magazine and doctor's office. And the company would have been bought out and marketed as a drug. I'm not buying it.

Predators exist everywhere. IF you look up their web site? The list of ingredients isn't all that impressive. Even tho they call it 'proprietary'.
If you buy that, I know of a few horse linaments that have similar ingredients that are much cheaper and far more readily available! At least I know the linaments have been used on sensitive skinned animals for decades? You can buy a quart/plus for the price of this stuff. I've tried the linaments too, and they don't work for PN tho...at least not the kind I have? - j

So why on earth would Geranium Oil work on PN pain? My goodness. Thirty Bucks for a teeny little bottle. I asked the pharmacist (because you can return EVERYTHING to CVS), I asked her "if we are not satisifed with this product, can we return it?" and she shook her head and said: "no, if you open it, you keep it".

I looked at her and said "we don't want it, you keep it".

She laughed.

There is a patent in place for geranium oil.

It supposedly works somewhat...but I wonder why we don't hear more about it.

We sure hear about Lyrica!

Let's see if I have this straight. I can go into a florist, (or wherever one goes to buy Geranium Oil), and I buy some, and Alan massages it on his toes, and his PN will go away??

Is this possible?? Because, although Alan's PN is nowhere near the level it was years ago, he still has his moments. He would try this in a heartbeat if it has a chance of working. (The geranium oil i mean, NOT THE $30 BOTTLE OF THE STUFF).

Did you read the thread? Marlene explains how to use the essential oil safely. And only one type of geranium is useful.

You buy these in healthfood stores, or online at places like
iherb. And no, it does not cost $30.

You only use a couple of drops at a time.

The Neuragen claims St.John's Wort as the active ingredient.
If you click the label on the site, it gives the ingredients.
Geranium oil is part of the carrier essential oil.

I don't know much about St.John'sWort and PN.
