Hi. I get similar cramps in my calves. I take the magnesium glycinate by metagenics and I found it to help a little well before my flare up. I was also think potassium and iron. Have you had these tested to see?I had also read the omegas are good.Someone told me to take epsom salt baths which I hate but may help you. Sorry wish I had more info.

Dear Liza...

you remain on my mind.

I could "feel" all of the symptoms you had written about...because they are so familiar to me.:winky:

I had tried to write something helpful. You are always so helpful toward everyone!:)

I truly hope you have found relief?

muscle twitching followed by cramping

I have a similar issue with "electrical shock like" twitching followed by severe cramping but only when I play tennis . It always starts in my calf and then it cramps or becomes sore/weak. Sometimes it goes to my Quad. Its happened around 3-4 USTA matches , very random too I can play for hours one time and other times its halfway thru. I feel like I always prepare beforehand with hydration and magnesium/potassium and electrolytes, etc but its scary and never happened prior to my 40s

I have been having nerve pain in my legs, primarily at night but sometimes even during the day. Under nerve pain on **they suggested two supplements that may help - Alpha Lipoic Acid & Benfotiamine. I have been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for years, so that obviously wasn't working so decided to try the Benfotiamine. I take 150 mg. twice a day one with breakfast - one with dinner. It took about 3 weeks to kick in, and now for the last 2-3 weeks my nerve pain is about 95% gone. BUT, I also no longer have leg cramps during the night or leg twitching. Hard to believe something so simple could help. Benfotiamine is a synthetic B-1 vitamin.
