Red face just a quick hello...

I am still on vacation. Having some nice times and some not so nice ones. (I have a thread with pictures on the Pet forum)

I don't have the time to respond to posts here yet...as I am wifi
connected at the laundromat.

But I'd like to warn people here of the addition of sorbitol to foods now. Hershey's got me----I was very ill as a result.
I have details on the Pets thread. I will do more research on this when I get home, for sure.

But it worries me that
1) people may be thinking they have IBS from this additive
2) sorbitol is the damaging agent to the nerves in diabetic neuropathies!...it is called the "polyol" pathway. I am not sure how much is absorbed from the GI tract...but I know some is.

Hershey's is putting this in some of its chocolate candies.
It is also using a new emulsifier made from CASTOR BEANS.
The product that did me in...had BOTH in them. When I called their toll free number a very haughty gal handled my questions...I was not satisfied in the least. And she would not tell me how much sorbitol was in each KISS either.
So beware and read all your labels ...I never expected sorbitol in a non-diet product.

I see some interesting posts here...I wish I could reply today to them all. I only have time to read a little bit.

I'll be back after Labor Day...

I hope the rest of your trip is all good times. When you come back I would like to hear more about this issue. Take your time though and enjoy the rest of your time off.

Wow, sorbitol seems to be showing up IN EVERYTHING LATELY.

I shall be sure to read every single label.

Thanks so much.
