I have titrated according to the dr..I was on 300 for a week, 600 for 3 days, 900 for 2 days, now I am just starting 1200mg. I may stay on this dosage for a week or 2 to let my body get used to it. I have had back pain today and some dizziness. I am taking it for burning nerve pain.
What dose of Neurontin worked for you? How long were you at that dose? If it didn't work for you , when did you try another drug? How fast did you titrate dosages? thank you !! ![]() |

Thank you for responding. I just started 1200mg, and the pain is worse today, could also be a flare from dysmennoria. Anyhow, I would like to try and get to 1800 and see how I do. At that 4200mg dose, wasn't 10 days considered a fast titration? were you on Lyrica and neurontin at the same time during the end of the titration to ease into it. And one last question, did the Nerontin not work for you anymore, and you went to Lyrica.
I figure i will titrate up to 1800mg and see if it helps within a months time, if not, I may try Lyrica. I take it for burning pain. |

and up on Lyrica so that the total equivalents equaled the 4200 (300mg Lyrica=1800mg Neurontin) about every 4 days, in 50 mg increments. The Neurontin had become less effective and the pain levels had been increasing, so the decision to switch was made.

Thank you. I am glad Lyrica is working better for you. I am going to titrate to 1800 of neurontin in a few weeks and wonder how long you stay on the drug to detemine if it is effective or if you want to switch.

3-6 weeks should determine if the dosage should be increased, to achieve effective symptom control.
Pain control, on the other hand, is usually achieved by a mix of a pain killer along with the Neurontin. Use of both, as a 'cocktail' is usually more effective than either, alone. I take Tramadol, and have been taking it along with the Neurontin (& now the Lyrica). Also, the effectiveness is achieved by the timing of the doses. I take 100mgs of Tramadol 4xday (400mgs total) at waking, 1pm, 5-6pm & bed-time. The Lyrica is taken 200mgs 3x day (600mgs total) at waking, 5-6pm & bed-time.

I am going to star lyrica again i think. I was thinking perhaps 150 mg are enough since my pain levels are not so high and my main symptoms are cramps, pins and needles and cramping, most of the times tolerable. So, would 150 mg of lyrica be enough?
