Default Beware Customs Duties !

Having been searching around for the best deals on Alpha Lipoic Acid and Acetyl Carnitine (and seen recommendations on here) I ordered both from iHerb.com. Even with the postage, cheaper than UK prices, or so I thought.

However when the delivery arrived I found that I'd also been charged £13.33 VAT customs duties ! £8.00 of this is a Royal Mail handling charge, which seems a big rip-off to me.

Apparently to avoid paying VAT on imported supplements to the UK you have to spend less than £18 before tax. I'll know next time.

Anyway the gardening I've done in the last two days of mild weather here, seems to have worked some sort of minor miracle - recently my PN seems to have been getting worse week on week. But for the last two days my PN symptoms have been the least I've experienced at any time since this "relapse" began back in August.

Is there some way you could have someone here in the states pay for it and then ship it on to you? Or wouldn't that make any difference or would it perhaps complicate things?
