Know just how you feel, not much pain but a weakness that comes over me that is so hard to describe, good on my feet, but a sort of shakiness, not a heaviness but sorto of the opposite. that no one seems to have, have you tried swimming or some sort of exercise, maybe yoga? Cheer up, have you seen a neurologist who specializes in PN? what type of PN do you have, Lynn

Yes on the Neurologist, infact yesterday was my last visit for a year unless I develoment more symptoms. He had my husand this visit. I have all the test done short of a nerve bio. which I will not do for the risk is so high for total numbness in the foot. We are moving soon and I will have access to a pool and will try that. I only tread how cold I get in water. So now its just pain managment along with watching my balance and take each day as it comes. He said nothing he could do for the heavy feeling but raised my Neurotin a slight bit. So frustrating......but thanks for writing and letting me feel I am not alone.

Consider taking a class on Tai Chi. It will help your balance.

LoriLee,
Have you had a 'Skin Punch' biopsy test?
Its nothing like the Sural Nerve Biopsy that you're talking about.
This is non invasive and leaves no residual effects whatsoever.
I had mine done at Johns Hopkins- not every place can do it.
See:
www.lizajane.com
for all the tests for PN. I'll betcha you haven't had 1/2 of them done.
Betcha some of the ones there, your doc isn't even aware of.
