I have read that artificial sweeteners will spike insulin just like sugar will. In the Cell program(weight loss program) run by Dr. Jensen-Kittley, she does not allow them. By removing them she says people lose weight! I don't think there have been studies done however, to prove this. Those who do not allow artificial sweeteners believe that somehow our taste buds are involved neurologically to signal insulin release.
