Default Quick onset of sfn after diagnosed by diabetes

Is it possible with diabetes type 1, that very soon after you have been diagnosed by it, you also get sfn troubles, or will that take a couple of years?

Hi FlyingDutchWoman, the damage could have been done well before the actual diagnoses of diabetes, trouble is with diabetes it isn't always diagnosed until complications do pop up, of course there are other possible causes as well, like vitamin defiencies etc, which some can be eliminated by simple blood tests.
If it is caused by the elavated blood sugars the good news is that with tight sugar control the nerves can heal over time.

Thanx! The question is not for myself but for a guy in the Netherlands who has been dx by diabetes in 2006 and soon after that got sfn troubles. Because we don't have much information in Dutch, I ask the question here
