I have come across this a few times here and else where on the net, and I have always been curious. Can someone tell me more about the pains felt when nerves start to heal? What does a patient feel exactly? Of course I am no where near any of that, but it's kind of interesting to think about how the whole process works...

It has been said (altho I've not experienced it) that the pains are similar if not exactly like the pains of the disease destroying nerves.
Hard to tell the difference. Don't know how to differentiate the two. Its a 'time-will-tell' experience, along with faith and a good regimen of healing supplements. If the pains lessen over time, its a winner!

In my exprience there is pain that decreases as healing takes place. Because of stress and the way it depletes B12, there may be an increase in pain at the same time that overall there is healing going on, but healing does not involve a pain all its own. If you are having more pain, then I would say it would be good to use more methylcobalamin lozenges and keep notes to see if that effects a change for the better. Remember, B12 replacement is a slow process, so, beginning to use methylcobalamin lozenges does not mean immediate and complete relief. However, using more makes it faster than using less.

Hi, Bob explained it perfectly, when I was going the healing process I had bouts of increased symptoms followed very slightly less severity until it flared up again, the less severity part was so little that it really was only noticable over a few months, from year to year really showed the most improvement, it was a total of 5 years to get back to normal again.

Without reading back through all your posts to see just what your problems where, how was it you got back to normal? |

I think healing pains depend on the type of healing.
When one has numbness extensively, then when healing happens, there may be tingling/burning for a while. This happened to me with my thyroid fix. But not all PN is numbness. It is possible for some who just have PAIN, that healing would reduce some of that. It may turn into another perceptive feeling, a lower type like tingling or itching for a while. I think it can be a variable experience... no one rule for all.

My neuro found the causes in the first lot of tests which were prediabetes and i was low on b12 as well, both problems were addressed which allowed my nerves to start repairing, it took a total of 5 years to get back to normal, i would say the numbness took the longest of it all. Brian ![]() |

Hopeful trust me I have gotten a range of never getting better to running again dx. My point is I think doctors sometimes just don't know with this cause that it is quiet an extreme. On a side note when I was at my new pain doctor this last week we were talking about my PN and RSD and he was hoping that it is mostly PN because if we can find the cause you can treat that and get a lot better. Unfortunatly I have had almost every test for the cause so am not sure what is left but was wondering if you know your cause? I also think a lot comes down to finding the right treatment which is a long long process it seems that is very stressful. Like I have heard here from Dan who found fentnyl or Brian about the b12 and sugar these things changed their lives. Hope we all find that soon. Many thoughts
