Melody, I would very much like to hear what it did. meanwhile, look at this, this really does look encouraging: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8021696 ""Ultra-high dose methylcobalamin promotes nerve regeneration in experimental acrylamide neuropathy." !!! Well, not human trials, but if humans report it helps, it probably does. Can anyone here report nerve regeneration with B-12?

Well, I can certainly attest to the fact that I can go to the podiatrist, he can use that darn vibrating tool and it does not make me jump. I have all feeling in my feet and they don't burn.

See, miracles do happen sometimes.

Hi Friends

I've decided to give B12 supplementation a good try, as my pain isn't improving on a gluten-free diet, which I started January this year.

I'm wondering if Jarrow's 5000 cherry (at Iherb.com) is still considered an excellent brand, since I haven't seen mention of Jarrow's in a long time. I'll have to order online as Methyl-b12 is not available in Australia. So while I'm at it, should I also grab something else to assist the B12 (perhaps R-Lipoic Acid), or will the B12 be enough for now to see if its going to help me?

My apologies if this has been asked before, but after an hour searching this thread I haven't seen anything.

Getting desperate and hoping B12 deficiency turns out to be the reason for my pain. My Doctor said my B12 results were on the low side of normal and not to worry to much. I now know "low side of normal" means Low Red Alert!

He was more concerned with my Iron levels and putting me on Iron supplements.

Anyway, I think it's high time I gave B12 a solid try. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I don't have Neuropathy, but I take Vit B12.
I buy it from iHerb because I'm in same situation and can't get it here in Australia.
Just check the prices as they vary from week to week.

I've been buying the Natural Factors, B12, Methylcobalamin, High Potency, 5000 mcg, 60 Chewable Tablets for some time as it's about $5 au cheaper than the Jarrows usually. It depends. [I buy Jarrows in other things, Inositol for example. It seems to be a good brand. I just try to change around because of the costs involved]

There are a number of brands in the same potency, but some seem too inexpensive and unknown brands to me and others are way too expensive.

Seeing I'm paying for postage, I usually try to get more than one item at a time.

Wink

Many of the other brands are fine too. For many years Jarrow's was the only one available and affordable.

I get ours now at Costco. But I have also used Puritan's Pride brand-- I even got tested using it...and my levels were 1999!
Costco's says Kirkland (but doesn't say who makes it). They are the same shape and flavor though as Puritan's. They are smaller in diameter, but thicker and softer. I just chew it up and follow with water.

The local stores are now carrying methylcobalamin commonly now. At one time I had to buy online only.

Just make sure you take on an empty stomach...for best absorption.

Thank you both for the advice. Much appreciated, as I've waited to hear from people here before ordering.

Lara, thanks for the tip to purchase a number of jars at a time due to postage. Iherb have Jarrow's on sale right now for $19.50. Might grab 3 or 4 jars.

MrsD, Costco just opened its first store in my city, so I'll check them out. I've heard they have a yearly joining fee, but that will balance out if I don't have to pay postage fees from the United States.

Lyrica is very expensive. If this leads to an eventual drug free existence, it would be life changing. Thank you again for the advice.

For the first time this year I've felt enthusiastic and optimistic.

My pleasure hon. I found a hobby that inspired ME. I sprout my food in my kitchen and have been doing this for many years now. The health benefits alone are through the roof (especially broccoli sprouts).

You don't need any special equipment, (colanders do just fine). You get organic seeds from any good sprouting sites on the web. You take a teaspoon of whatever seeds you wish (I sprout radish, broccoli and fenugreek seeds), and you start by taking two tablespoons of seeds in a little jar and fill with water so they soak overnight.

Next day you get a colander and spread them around. Cover it. Pour water twice a day for 5 days. Draining WELL. You won't believe what turns up in 5 days. If you wish, I'll post a link to my videos which show it all.

Also I'm SPROUTLADY MELODY on facebook if you wish to look me up and you'll see that my profile picture is all my food.

I've had people come in my house, walk over to my sprouts and go "ooooh and aaaah.

lol

It's a very soothing hobby that feeds me.

Take care, Melody
