Well, I think people may differ greatly in their own chemistries with drugs.

I've settled on 1/2 tablet at bedtime very infrequently. Seems my body is used to it now. No more "tripping".

I get pretty good pain relief from it... and this relief lasts into the next day. I bought some new Dr. Scholl's orthotic insoles from that store foot mapping experience--the new machine they have. I am trying to get used to them, wearing them an hour a day, and finally went to Meijer's walking the whole store in them (one end to the other and back).
I did need the Ultram that night!

I don't have terrible pain, but at night it is disturbing enough to need some help at times.

I used to get waves of nausea when I started Tramadol around this time last year. It took months to go away, but the waves were so short in duration (maybe 30 seconds) that I didn't mind so much. I'm on 600mg/day, but I've built up such a resistance to it that it really only helps a little for pain now.

Sure hope you feel better, mrsD.

Tramadol landed me in the ER after one dose....total autonomic meltdown. I simply don't do well with anything that has even a very tiny bit of serotonin reuptake type action.

I had a 'trip' from neurontin once. Later I read on the net that it is somewhat related to LSD.

I do think that medicine could do a better job typing us for drug intolerances.

I only had the nausea once...when I took a full 50mg that first time. It came more than an hour later...like a tidal wave. I just took slow deep breaths and it passed fairly quickly. But I came very close to hurling at one point! When your saliva goes bonkers...I start getting ready to run to the bathroom..but this nausea did pass and didn't last too long.

I use topical things for my pain in my feet. When my legs and lower back start up (major aching)..that is when I reach for the Ultram.

That "tripping" was really unpleasant. So much so my shy cat came in and sensed it and sat on me thru the whole thing (like I needed THAT!) She would get off when I rolled over, then climb right back on!
She rarely does that, only mostly on vacation when it is cold up there.

I can't imagine people choosing recreational drugs to "trip" and get high... I found it endless timewise (lasted til about 4am), and very very unpleasant!

Mrs. D, I have the same reaction, forgot that ultram/tramadol is the same thing and took it again in Sept from my rheumie after six years had passed. I was sick with nausea all of that month, discussed it with my pain dr and she said "We have it listed as an allergy for you because of severe nausea and headaches, insomnia." I can take my norco just fine, but tramadol and cymbalta made every day a "flu" day, who knows why some things work and not others. My sisters and I and our offspring all tend to have "feline syndrome", just plain weird.

Hi Mrs D, The same thing happened to me when I first went on tramdol, if I took it during the day I was alright but if I took it at night I would feel really weird and would not be able to sleep, also if I took a work then drive home in the afternoon I would nearly doze off at the wheel that was really scary, but eventualy my body got used it and I had not side effects, I no longer take it now as I can not take it with the cymbalta, but before my dx I was taking 300mg a day.

hope this start to get better for you soon

Lesley
