Probably because the nerves that are responsible for tempature & sensation, the small fibre nerves are damaged and are sending incorrect signals to the brain.

Cold is torture on me aka why I moved. My foot becomes dead cold and won't warm up. I think for me a lot is due to being so sensitive. Even a touch hurts and also I think cold makes one stiffer and being stiff can make ones muscles ache.
