Does anyone else with PN also have arm pain?

I have pains and cramps in my forearms. Actually, this was one of th first onset of my symptoms - from my hands to my arms and elbows and next the feet and legs. My elbows are also tender to the touch. Is this common with PN?

I don't know if it's common or not. Mine started in my feet, wish I could be of more help.

Yes sunnydee, I have PN down both of my arms and into my hands. It gets worse with over use, such as using the computer. My elbows are also pretty bad, in fact so are my knees. It seems there is something about PN and the joints in my case.

--for neural symptoms that stem from damage to the nerves in the peripheral regions; that is, those outside the brain and spinal cord. These can range from problems with the spinal nerve roots (the first nerves outside the spine--this is termed "radiculopathy" from the Latin "radic", or root), to problems way down the line at the tips of fingers and toes, to anywhere in-between.

There are over two hundred KNOWN causes of peripheral nerve compromise, and there are probably almost as many currently unknown causes, particularly autoimmune and toxic ones, that have not yet been precisely identified.

Part of the problem is that investigation into cause can be very long, expensive, and baffling--neural symptoms from brain/spine problems and those from peripheral nerve problems can be exactly the same--so one really needs neurologists with this particular area of expertise.

Having had surgery for brain aneurysms suggests your symptoms may stem from there, but certainly a wide-ranging work-up is called for. You might want to check the spreadsheets at [url]www.lizajane.org[url]. These have been together to be as comprehensive a list of tests for causes of neural symptoms as current medical knowledge can imagine.

Wow, that really sounds like me. I also have it in my knees and elbows too. Working on the computer seems to aggravate it.

What about other things that cause joint pain like fibromyalgia or arthritis?

have you been thoroughly worked up for cervical radiculapathy??

I had a MRI of the cervical spine, and it came back normal. I've looked at fibromyalgia and I have some of the symptoms, but I've been checked and don't have the tender points.

My symptoms are mostly in my feet, knees, legs, hands, and arms. Not so much the torso, except I do get pain underneath both rib cages.

I just started to see a new neurologist, so I'm hoping for some answers soon....

I also have had similar symptoms in my arms that gets worse with activity. The pain seems to fluctuate over time with flare-ups and then remissions. What type of neuropathy do they think you have.....small fiber?
