Shelia I am sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that I had it for a long time before I had a NCV test done. My doctor was giving me pain medicine and sleeping pills (because pain was causing lack of sleep) before I even had a NCV test done. Now I am on Lycria which helps but still have a lot of issues.

Hope someone can help you with this question.

Default If the damage to the nerves is patchy or incomplete--

--it may take a long time for obvious signs of neuropathy to show up on NCV/EMG studies, if at all; these measures are still very gross in aspect.

And, further, if the damage is primarily or exclusively to the small-fiber nerves, NCV/EMG studies would not show abnormalities--those fibers are too small to measure by that method. Quantitative sensory testing, sudomotor axon reflex testing, and/or skin biopsy would be needed to document damage there.

My first nc/emg did not show anything then my 2nd I would say 3 months later showed and that was with the ssep/nc/emg. This was after about 5 months of the severe pain. I don't know what a foot test is
