Well, the rash on the top of his foot is getting better. It never bothered himn one bit. We never even knew it was there until he went to the podiatrist yesterday. He started the antibiotics yesterday too.

The main thing is the surgery to shave the bone on the side of the foot so the ulcer underneath the foot will finally heal. That is what the foot guy is concerned about now.

We shall see, we shall see.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!!
Love, Melody

Melody, i know i am a pest but you probably know that i am a " magnet nut "anyway those magnets that didn't help Alan, may i ask what type they were ? like were they Ceramic[Ferrite Magnets], Cobalt, Neodymium [rare earth magnets] ?

The power [gauss] of the magnet can make all the differance as to whether they work or not, there is a lot of rubbish out there that claim to do wonders.

I think the best magnets are Neodymium, i wouldn't buy any others but them.

Do you really think I remember what kind of magnets Alan used??? I'm 59 years old. You're lucky I remember what I made for dinner last night (turkey burgers for him and grilled salmon for me). See? I haven't yet lost my mind!!!

As far as magnets. He's used them 3 different times. The first time were the magnets that come with the insoles that slip inside the shoes. They did nothing.
The second time was a set of magnets that bought at a flew market. The set included a belt that wrapped around the lower back and the ends attached with velcro. That did nothing also.

The third (and I think the most powerful magnets) are the ones in the magnassager. They are powerful magnets (3 balls).

They didn't do a thing for him either.

The only thing that helps Alan is when Dr. Theirl gives him the adjustments, or at the end of the evening, I give him a lower back massage.

Oh, one important thing (and we showed this to Dr. Fred the other day).

When Alan is getting the PN pain in the two toes on one foot and the three toes on the other foot (this happened while he was sitting up on the Dr. Fred's examination table, well, Alan said "My feet are doing a dance", That's his expression for when the PN acts up. I said to Dr. Fred: "Watch what I do for him now and watch how he reacts". I massaged his upper thighs (deeply), massaging toward the heart. I did this for a few minutes and Alan said to Dr. Fred "See, I feel great when she does this, so maybe there's a pinched nerve in my thighs?" Dr. Fred said to Alan "Well, we CAN x-ray your thighs but I'm telling you, the nerves go down the back this way (and Dr. Fred showed Alan where the nerves flow down his back.

This PN thing in his toes is very very disconcerting. He doesn't have it any place else. Forgive me for complaining because I know many of you are fighting many more problems than PN in a few toes. But I still think it comes from his lower back and I hope we find a guy who has an x-ray machine and he puts Alan in it and the machine scans his body and then the doctor reads the films and goes 'AHA, HERE'S WHAT'S GIVING HIM THE PN IN HIS TOES.

Yeah, we can only hope,

Love, Melody

Beam me up Scotty!!!, Mr. Spock, Captain Kirk and everybody else.

Two minutes ago, Alan lost the whole internet. He calls me over to the computer and says: "What did I do??"

I could not get on anything. I could not get into my favorites. He locked up everything. The man is dangerous.

I forbade him from touching this thing again. He is mad right now.

HE'S MAD????????

Thank the Lord, I finally found a way around this and got into tools, and un-did whatever HE DID DO!!!!

Oh my lord.,

Beam me anywhere Scotty!!!!!

Shocked Melody!

Yes, if he doesn't understand how the computer works, Alan could delete some of your programs. I think my husband did that while learning the computer. At that point, I sat down and learned how to use it myself. But we went without some program that was very important to me. ARRGH.

The funny thing is that he calls me over and says "I didn't do anything, but the computer doesn't work, so do something!!!".

I look at him, I just give him this italian look with one of my eyes, he gets up from the computer and goes quietly into the next room and waits.

This time (yes, he did it again, five minutes ago) I think I yelled at him in italian. Since the man is jewish and doesn't understand one word of italian, he knew it wasn't good!!!!

But, I learned something new. I did a system restore.
Kind of neat. Since I can't stand Internet Explorer 7, I restored it to a point way before that and BINGO, now I have my Internet Explore 6 back.

P.S. don't worry, he's still alive

The pest is back again , There is nothing wrong with your memory Mel, i am 6 years younger than you and there is no way i could remember all of the details that go into those funny stories that you and Alan get up to, so you are doing really good [even at 59 years young ]

If you want my thoughts on those 3 you mentioned,
1- those inner soles are the biggest rip off of all time [ well the ones i have actually seen and tested for myself have been anyway ] and i haven't heard any good reports about them either from anyone.

2nd - although i have heard some people say those magnetic belts are helpfull for lower back pain, i don't think the magnets in them are strong enough to really do anything, i think that they may help only as a back support more than anything.
My mum bought one years ago and there not cheap either, she never uses it, I have tested it for magnetic strength what a rip off.

3- I haven't come accross that type of device you speak of, so i am only guessing that its some type of device that has some sort of magnetic balls that roll around and vibrate to give a massage type of relief, if so, magnets only work well when left on the affected area for hours may even be 12-24 hours [ depending on the problem] before any relief is found.

For magnets to work they must be strong enough [at least 3,000 gauss] to penetrate the area and left on for days NOT MINUTES to obtain any sort of relief, and i wouldn't pay any more than $5 for one magnet and i would only buy Neodymium magnets sometimes called rare earth magnets.

Wishing you and Allan a very happy new year,
Brian

Brian: Click on this link and you'll see the magnassager we bought. We got it on ebay for only $89.00.

It's exactly the same one that is advertised in this link.

Give a look!!!! http://www.seenontv-bargains.com/3378.html

P.S. Remind me to tell you the story about the first time I made matzoh ball soup for Alan's family. I'm italian, they're jewish and I wanted to impress them.
Oh, I impressed them all right.

Mel

I had a look Mel, It says a " powerfull 1000 gauss " which is relativley weak in gauss readings, and good quality stainless steel has no magnetic properties at all, only if its poor quality stainlees steel it will attract to the magnet, but all the same the principle of it would probably give a massaging affect, which is good for circulation, same as when you massage Allan he finds relief from it when you do that for him, but its value is short lived unfortunatly.

The differance with good strong magnet/s is, its stays on all the time creating constant circulation 24/7, i don't mean any magnetic devices, like magnetic pillows, neck bands and all that rubbish, i mean magnets that are applied directly to the skin [ with a small piece of moleskin underneath the magnet to stop any magnetic burn ] and using strong waterproof adhesive tape to keep it on.
At this present moment i have a few magnets on my hip, because i am having a total hip replacement early this year, the 2 steriod injections they give me helped but it wasn't untill i put some magnets on that i have found any real relief and my hip joint is bone on bone, no cartlidge left.
They have helped me so much over many years, thats why i talk about them so much, you know that magnet therapy has been around for over 500 years.
so thats my 2 cents worth
its 5 am now so i think i better hit the sack.
