Trig The cat attack

My great dane Alex took off running at top speed down our lane (country)I waited for her to come back and called her name. I wasn't prepared for what she had in her mouth. It was an entire cat. She paraded back with it into the big dog pen. I followed her and told her to put it down and she did.
The cat laid there in shock and obviously injured. Trying to
be kind, I gently picked her up and headed for the gate. I didn't know how bad she was injured so I carried her gently. Her eyes looked up at me as if to say "Help me". We were approaching the gate when she decided to turn on me.
Oh my god, she had latched her teeth on my thumb. Out of instinct I threw the cat down. It's teeth stayed in my thumb it seemed for a long time but it was only seconds.
The blood started flowing and I thought I was going to pass out! The cat actually ran under our truck and my husband told me to go get fixed up and he kept an eye on the cat. He came in and told me that the cat had died.
I ended up at urgent care.I got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. We had to take the cat to the vet as it is a law to test for rabies. Everything was OK. That was a relief.
The next time I find an injured animal, I won't run over and pick it up!
I believe, Doodle bug7

Default cat attack

I was taken totally by surprise like an ambush. Didn't have that on my mind at all. I love animals but they are truly unpredictable. YIKES!

I hope you're feeling better and no lasting effects from the bite.

I'll admit that if I had just been spit out of the mouth of a Great Dane, I would probably bite somebody, too.
