Here is a website that discusses the Barn owls and nesting.
. From watching and following the chat that streams with the cam, one poster said the chicks are born blind, and have to learn where to point their beaks to get food. You can hear Molly chatter while she is feeding...so they can locate her sound. The most recently hatched chick seems to make the most noise. I am unsure if the 4th egg has hatched yet, but the 3rd (Austin) seems to be screeching quite a bit this morning. Here is a YouTube from a 2007 cam of a Barn Owl defending her nest from a Crow! . This is a 10 second YouTube of a group of almost grown Barn Owls... they are pretty interesting! . This one is short too: Owlets hissing in fear and warning: . They do look like monkeys at this stage. this is a really cute video of another variety of owl...the Burrowing Owl...these 3 chicks were rescued and the video is from the London Zoo: . The music is great and they are equally cute!

There are 4 chicks, now hatched in the nest. They have named the 4th, Wesley.
So there are now in order: Max, Pattison (named after a school which participates on the blog), Austin (the owner's grandson's name who set up the cam) and now Wesley (don't know his relation to it all). I believe there is one egg left. Molly has a huge rabbit this morning to feed them all with. I find the rabbit meals/feedings hard to watch. I much prefer the Eagles with their fish, which seems less gross for some reason!

The chicks are really growing now. There are 4 of them from the 6 eggs. (the last egg did not hatch and one broke)
The chicks are of various sizes, and Molly is leaving them more now since they are bigger. They are rather ugly in a reverse beautiful way. I like watching the chicks together, like this morning, but I really can't watch feeding times comfortably! There was a still living rabbit the other day, I luckily missed, and the chatters said they all had to turn off their sound. (rabbits scream in a pathetic, horrible manner and I can't stand THAT!)

OMG....that brought back a long ago memory that I wish I didn't have!
. I won't share it here because no one wants that picture stuck in their mind! Thanks for the warning Mrs.D. Molly is such a good Mom! .
