JD,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. You have my sincere condolences. I read many of your posts about your dog, who was not only a loving pet and companion for you, but was also a faithful Service dog. Your love and devotion for your dog shines through in your posts, and I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to say goodbye to a loving pet. I made the choice to end my dog's suffering in May of 2005, and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do but at the same time I knew it was the absolute right thing to do. I still think about my Chelsea dog everyday, and every memory brings a smile to my face... but it took a while for her memories to bring me smiles instead of tears. I just wanted to give you a great big ((((((((((((((( H U G )))))))))))))))))) and let you know that I am sorry for your loss. ((((((( hugs )))))) Liz

JD,
I'm so sorry. I know personally how sad and lonely you must be after losing your beloved companion and pet. I too have lost a pet. My little Tessa was found to have severe kidney damage (unknown cause) and to end her suffering we had to put her to sleep. She was so dear to us. I'm thinking about you. Billye |

I know many ppl have experienced the grief I am suffering. I never knew this depth before, even with close friends or family. It has caught me by surprise. I melt into a puddle of tears. I called for him this morning, wondering where he was ...
I wrote this yesterday. Yes, the first few lines are from something done by an unknown author..I changed those words and wrote much more. Ode to Figaro, my service dog I thought of you with love today. But that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday. And of course the day before. I think of you in silence. But I often speak your name. Now all I have is memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake. With which I'll never part. God has you in his keeping. I have you in my heart. We had some great times together. You were always there Protecting and guiding me I never had to fear. Loyal to the end, You wouldn’t say goodbye I had to be the one to say The time to part was nigh. I thought I saw you recently Lying in the grass And I thought I felt your snuggling While in bed next to me. Was that you reminding me That you haven’t really passed? Because such love can never leave Such love will always last. Will you still come and visit me As I grow old and weary? In my dreams or visions It doesn’t matter really. I need to know that you’re still here Within my being and soul Though I know you can’t lick the tears That stream down my face You still console Because I know God gave me you Through His mercy and Grace I can’t wait to see you again ole pal When I cross the bridge of weeping To where you are, where tears are dried And reunions made rejoicing. The angels took good care of you Before we had to part Now God keeps you in His presence While I keep you in my heart. JHL Figaro Dumford 12/7/91 - 01/06/07 Adapted by Jean Dumford, Ph.D.

JD,
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I understand well what you mean when you say you never felt this depth of loss. I felt the same way this summer when we had to put our Golden Retriever Ginger down at age 13. I imagined her everywhere...from running in the fields along the roadways to laying beside my bed. I even continued to talk to her for days. Even after six months, I can still be reduced to tears if I think about her a certain way, but time does heal... slowly. You wrote a beautiful poem about Figaro. My thoughts are with you. Take care, Cara
