Well, I wish I could also remember a superb product that also totally gets rid of the smell. If I remember I'll come back with that.
But that said...this stuff is amazing for stains! It was recommended to me many years ago by a home economist at the university. It's called Tech. I always got it in the small bottle. . I'm not sure of the most likely store to find it. I used to be able to get it at a grocery store here but they don't carry it anymore. I bet you can find it someplace like a local hardware type store? Anyway, good luck! . Oh, I just noticed they have a store locator and yup, lots of different hardware type stores but lots of others as well.

((Ms. Loo)) I think I remembered the name of the other product. I looked it up on the web and they must have changed the packaging since I last bought the product (which was a long time ago). It's called Simple Solution.
Long ago one of my favorite cats, Macho, was very ill and declining rapidly. He kept using a corner in my living room to go potty before he died. After that I decided to get new carpet. But when the old was ripped up, there was a huge stain in the wood floor and it smelled just awful. I applied the Simple Solution straight on it and amazingly it got rid of the smell. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that is the name. I only say pretty sure because the packaging looks entirely different than before. .

What works best for me is WINDEX. Spray the carpet, and use a carpet brush and brush it in. Then let it dry, and the stain should be gone. It works everytime for me. Hugs, Lee

Wow Leesa, I haven't heard of that! Do you use the regular Windex window cleaner or one of their other products?

Word of caution - window cleaners usually contain ammonia. Years ago, puppy "experts" advised using ammonia to clean up messes, but it's since been found that, since urine also contains ammonia, some dogs may take it as a sign that it's ok to go there again.
. We've used Nature's Miracle (there are similar products w/ other names) for decades w/ great success.

I had to register just to get in on this thread. Don't use windex to clean pet stains. Like the other reader wrote, it has ammonia. This is not good for your pet at all. Not only that, but ammonia and vinegar have been known to reinforce a pet urinating on the carpet rather then where they should be. To properly clean a pet stain, you need to break the bonds of the stains and lift the stains from the carpet. Windex will not properly do this. You need a nuetralizer and deodorizer like Genesis 950. There are tons of pet accident cleaners out there but I have not had the success with them that I have with 950. It completely removes the stain AND the odor. And remember just because you can't smell the odor doesn't mean the stain is gone. That is another reason it is so important to completely break the bonds of the stain. I realize this thread started in 2006, but this is the type of information that is always useful. I hope it helps
