My baby/dog Trace, is allergic to well everything!
Food, skin, chemicals, metals. All are a problem with him. Vet put him on a gluten free diet, I bought a large size key cover to put around his rabies tag, he takes tones of supplements(omega3 fish oil for coat, Gluecosamine for joints, natural stress pills) and am working on a cover for the metal hook on his colar. Plastic is a nono he is strong and I wont risk his life if he sees a bird or anything that runs and decides to take off running. I say this because he had an issue of scratching/itching the vet changed his diet, gave him a cortisone shot, the omega 3 and, a 30 day supply of cortisone pills to help him get thru till the omega and diet could kick in. The flea prevenative makes him blah for first few days, but the itching starts after it wears off too (sans the fleas). He is so sensitive! Even a blood draw turns into a huge raw sore! But the changes have really helped and he has put on a few pounds(needed) I use a oatmeal bath for him, and Dr also said to keep him clean, but I am carful not to bath too often so as not deplete his natural oils. With all his sensitivties, steroids shots to both shoulders, a bout of that inherated mange, on going obediance classes, normal vacinations, being fixed etc, special diet, normal toys etc. My husband says he is the most expensive free dog he has ever had....he also is the best dog we have ever had!:winky: |

I don't know why it is, but dogs in particular can outgrow many allergies - they come & go, so there's some hope for Trace that he may outgrow them too. Doc |
