The former Seneca Army Depot in Upstate NY hosts the world's largest herd of white deer. We've seen them many times, both when I worked near there many years ago, and the occasional times we visit friends in the region.

That is a very interesting video... Thanks for posting it!
Albino deer are slowly appearing where we vacation. The first ones were within driving distance, and last year some locals said there was one nearby, but we didn't see it. I wonder if some factor in the environment is selecting this genetic mutation?

Few years ago there was an actual albino deer wild in the woods in my town (red eyes and all). Local paper did an article on it, with a picture taken by one of the neighbors who spotted it. The did not say where it was, to prevent hunters from going for it.
However, they gave full first and last names of the neighbors they interviewed for the article. Hello????? Name, plus town, equals about 20 seconds with the phone book to get an address. Bet the poor thing didn't last but another week or two. |
